I think the reason it hasn’t sold is that no one is brave enough to own it.
Behold how it enters a chicane:
Behold how it enters corners:
Behold quotes from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and the man who built it:
On the rollers with a wayyyyyy too small intercooler we got 504lb/ft at the wheels with 11lbs of boost. I gave it a Powerstroke intercooler for ambient intake air temps and a turbo that was audibly not trying as hard (plus boost came up faster!) for a seat of the pants improvement in power. We then fiddled with mapping + turned boost up to 15lbs for another dramatic change for the better. Keep in mind that at11lbs of boost it was doing things like tearing off all the wheel studs... Breaking axles.... We were swapping axles side to side in service as they would twist in the splines.... This before it got the 9” rear with a spool and Moser 35 spline axles and 5/8” wheel studs... That was the end of breaking “unbreakable” parts in the rear of a Volvo.... Many didn’t believe such things to be true.... We broke things on gravel with gravel tires that just don’t fail on a street car.

The car was already pretty successful normally aspirated with Porsche IDA Weber carbs on it but one day John hands me a big TO4 turbo and tells me to “make it fit.” As it turns out the PRV V6 REALLY likes to be turbocharged. The original version and tune at 11 lbs of boost netted 504 ft/lbs of torque at 4000rpm at the wheels on a chassis dyno. I’ve seen the dyno sheet myself. That was with the restrictive SAAB 9000 intercooler. Since then we installed a much bigger Powerstroke diesel intercooler (which required notching the frame rails to fit) and improved exhaust manifolding and retuned for more boost. It’s for sure well over 600hp now. Nobody who has driven, ridden in, or gotten pelted by rock spray from this car would question that figure. The acceleration is violent when the turbo kicks in. I once embarrassed a Porsche 930 Turbo on the freeway in this beast. If you are driving on the freeway at 60 mph in 4th gear if it’s even a little damp and you step on the gas too hard the rear tires WILL spin! John once saw 143 mph on the Terratrip 404 odo going across the I-90 floating bridge very early one morning. Is it completely ludicrous and overkill for stage rally? Yes.
...
The engine systematically broke everything behind it (including 2 Quaife straight cut gearboxes) so we installed a Ford 9 inch rearend with Moser 35 spline axles and a spool, Ford 3/4 ton truck driveshaft, Jerico 4 speed dogbox out of a Winston Cup car, and a Quartermaster multi disc clutch.
Behold additional testament:
After helping the owner install the NASCAR box we took it out for a spin on aurora ave n in Seattle’s freemont neighborhood. Spin being the operative word, spinning gravel tires in all four gears while hitting triple didgets.

There is a legend of this car running 12s on rally tires from about 15 years ago.

It sounds to me like $10k is just the entry fee with how much this thing likes to eat rear ends.

The real question is how do I justify the purchase to my family...

Supposedly the Ford 9” solved that problem

Volvos are safe. Tell them you bought a safe family car.
...A safe family car that’s designed to carry two family members at a time

Something doesn’t quite match up here. It needs one of these front ends to give it the proper rally look:

God I love this car.....I can’t believe it hasn’t sold yet. I mean it’s terrifying, but in the best way possible. Someone needs to buy it and put way better videos up, they're all very potato quality

That’s because when the videos were shot this was the most advanced phone in the world.

Well space and budget wise. I have three and it’s all I can do. I’d like a panamericana looking corvair.... several more...

That just means it’s time to look for some garage space to rent on Craigslist

I just need a place with a couple covered spaces and more room down a driveway or yard. But I’m in SF so it gets hard, all the techies moved here and housing is sky high. Terrible time to buy. If I live up north I have so far to commute but more space.

That is something that is very appropriate for a 242:
One of the best looking 242’s I’ve ever seen in person. And yes, that is a smallblock V8.
