Painting the civic blue. With rustoleum cans. Currently waiting two days for it to cure so I can wetsand it. Won’t be factory quality but be a hell of a lot better than having scrapes and nicks and a green fender on a black car. Should look really nice when I sand it, and I adore this color.

So I’ve seen. There is aa dozens of pages long thread onhonda-tech about $50 paint jobs. Not many people used rattlecans because its more expensive, but I think I can do the whole car for less than $20

It’s a gorgeous color, if I can keep it from looking like garbage. I’m hoping for a semigloss finish to hide the debts in my body

Yeah, I can’t wait. I’m thinking of painting the side skirts white and making a front air dam/splitter thing and painting it white as well, but I can’t decide if that’s ricey or not. I have two sets of skirts so I might paint one white and one blaaaaack instead of the weird dark grey unpainted color it is now

I did my door jambs with spray cans. Unless you get really good at it it’s harder to get an even coat. And $20 will buy you maybe 3 cans of good spray paint and no masking tape, sand paper, or primer.

I’ve spent $30 or less so far and got six cans of rustoleum, tape, and sandpaper.

I did it with the roll on and ended up paying about $130 total not including the bed liner. I also have more surface area than you. I wouldn’t recomend using regular rustolium. For my spray parts I used Rustrolium professional from the home depot. Bigger cans and a longer lasting formula.

Black car with colored bonnet is like anti-rice, right?
Can’t wait to see the finished product.

If the blue is what’s on the hood above - that’s a good color!
Having painted quite a lot of my car with rattle cans (Ford Performance White is the same damn color as regular White Rustoleum, but the rustoleum is more durable -I’ve strongly considered buying a gallon of rustoleum and a quart of acetone and putting it in my HVLP and just redoing my whole car, the paint’s so bad). Just today I ended up painting my whole fender with white spray Rustoleum after doing some rust repair.
It will turn out pretty well if you prep well enough, and since it’s cans there will be a hell of a lot of orange peel. If you can wet it flat, there’s no reason it won’t polish up as well as anything else with enough patience. Give it a week or two before you wax it and it should hold up fairly well, too.
Looking forward to the finished product!
