I’m with ya. I like the Evo and all but for my money I think I’d rather have a FoRS.

Isn’t the five speed the stronger transmission? I know that one of them tends to break when you boost it more.

The $38k i can understand but I giess the 5 speed was stronger than the 6 speed? I doubt Mitsubishi has $$$$ to R&D a stronger 6 speed though
I’ll take the 5 speed over the automatic though

You know what is the worst about this US-Spec Final edition? It does not get the Recaro seats, it gets the same lame seats you get in a normal Lancer.

WRX STi would be a better bet these days too, since the biggest complain was the lack of rigidity and softer suspension compared to the EVO.
Both of those things have been remedied. Between that and the FoRS that’s just no reason to get the EVO unless you happen to be one of those rare Mitsu fanboys.

OK, I’m gonna be blunt. Why are American Evos so shit?
The best of the best. The swansong. The final tribute. And it has 300 HP? Come on, is that really it?

I mean laughing at the $38k price tag. The 5 speed doesn’t bother me so much.
I wasn’t clear

I always wondered why EVOs were so damn expensive? It seems to be a problem the whole time they were sold in the US.

Ya if it was like the FQ-400 equivalent people thought it was going to be they woudl have something. This is pointless garbage.

Same price as the STI pretty much.

Yeah, that’s pretty brutal. I heard about that - was it for safety reasons (crash testing or something) or just because they’re being cheap?

2007 was apparently a sexy year. I know it’s not a fresh design, but it’s still an attractive car. I’d like to have one - 300HP and ~300 torques, AWD, manual transmission, rally heritage, yadda yadda...
But the 5-speed seems like an unnecessary compromise in 2015, it has crappy seats, and it’s too goddamned expensive.

This might be a valid business decision, but business decisions don’t always make for better cars. I’m guessing it’s targeted at the fanboys and the long-time faithful who want one last, great Evo.

But way more than a WRX.

I was referencing the car as a whole. I got what you were saying about the 5-speed :)

Evo 5 spd is better trans. People swap the 6 speeds out cause they are not as strong

Last year, I was cross shipping a 15 WRX and an Evo. They were selling GSRs (with the good seats) for 29.9k. In spite of that, it was a little hammer in a wold of laser levels.
Take away the seats, and I’m not sure why anyone would buy this. An STI is a far better car.

I think I read somewhere that it was to due to US crash safety, as in Japan they do come with Recaros
