I’m not gonna do it. I’m not gonna turn this:
Into an ugly mess like this:
Nuh uh. I’m keeping the factory radio in place. I might upgrade the speakers, but except for a Bluetooth adapter so I can stream music and calls from my phone through the radio, I’m not changing anything. Same goes with the outside of the car.
Tasteful mods only. Gonna keep the 3 clean and stock looking, with just a FEW touches here and there to make it mine.
Like that Mazdaspeed3 shift boot I’m ordering tomorrow to replace my worn and cracked original. The red stitching will blend well with the red and black seats and lighting.

Aftermarket radios make an interior look like shit 99.999999% of the time

I really wish aftermarket headunits weren’t so damn ugly. You really have to spend some cash if you want one that looks tasteful. From the clutter of oddly shaped buttons, to the cheap chrome knobs, and way to bright lighting, it’s all just so bad.
One thing I do like is most have now have several colors to choose from, and a dimmer. Oh and some even have almost infinitely adjustable LEDs. Thats a must for me, my radio needs to match my dash lights.

I would say significantly less since the advent of double din touchscreens. Instead of ridiculously flashy neon colored monstrosities we now have a little screen instead.

I haven’t seen one car with an aftermarket radio that looks good.

I would never claim to be OCD or anything, but everytime I get in someone’s car and I see the aftermarket stereo on “demo mode” I will risk my life and all those in the car with me to turn it off.

I’m okay with aftermarket Head units but a single DIN and Cubby hole?
That’s ugly.

Im just comment here to remind myself to take a picture tomorrow of mine. I did the best I could.

The Pioneer from my Camry has that.... I COULD make it match the red lighting elsewhere in the car. But the install kit is so damn ugly, and I lose my info display with the clock and radio stations.... BUT I GET ANOTHER CUBBY HOLE!
I figure its better to sell the radio, and use the cash/paypal to get the bluetooth adapter.

my buddy has this, or something similar in his 3. It looks factory to me. (the LEDs are red on his), this is an Eonon D5151

Yeah I saw the hard-on the Mazda 3 forums have for it. I’m looking to spend less than $100 on making my radio bluetooth compatible. There are some adapters around that range, and that’s all I need.

This gif syncs up perfectly with the music I’m listening to every time.

yeah, no point spending more than you have to. My buddy was saying his main impetus for getting the one he got was still being able to use his steering wheel controls. Which I get.
My car only has a horn button on the wheel and even that isn’t working at the moment sooo

Good. Don’t.
And hey, is that a cigarette lighter?!?

I know you can ad an aux jack to the factory radio, there’s a port on the back you just have to buy the cable

I love these as it looks like it’s supposed to be there.

Too bad my trim is gray and not black like yours.
I’m going with this, though. I have one from my IS 300, I just need the cable for my 3.

No dead pedal? Mine is shiny and matches the pedals. Shiny isn’t good because it reflects into my eye sometimes..

Nope. All mine has left is torn carpet.

I’d love to buy an Android radio... when I become rich.

Yup. But once you go Bluetooth, you never want to go back. I love just pausing streaming radio when I get to work, and when I get back in the car to go home with my phone in my pocket, I can pick up where I left off without touching it.

No. Just getting the shift boot from one.

But what if the interior already looks like shit?
IMHO doesn’t make it look any worse and now I don't have to burn CDs.

Okay maybe not good, but I uploaded a picture in a different reply, and it doesn’t look worse.
