This question has led to as many internet flame wars as whether you should use conventional or synthetic oil. You pay more for a brand new car, but you get the peace of mind of knowing that no one else has ever owned the car, as well as a full factory warranty. This is worth a great deal, and it’s reflected by the fact that any new car depreciates significantly the moment it rolls off the dealer’s lot under new ownership. On the other hand, there’s a strong argument that it’s better to let someone else take this initial depreciation hit and buy a better used car than you can afford new. So which is better?

The other great thing about buying a 2o year old Miata vs a new one is, you won’t feel bad about flying down a windy dirt road, or just general driving the piss out of it.

depends on need, ability and time of year.
I was living in an apartment away from all close family friends and was regularly doing 150 mi road trips. I had been having a few issues. I bought my beigemobile at the end of the year and didn’t want any options and the dealer was offering additional discount to move product. If it wasn’t for a lack of garage and long distances traveled at night, I would have looked more for a used car.
Now that I have access to a garage and don’t drive such long distances I would definitely look at a used car.
