So take one of these (ideally in WRB) with a manual. Lift it 2-3” with slightly softer suspension. Add skid plate and small bull bar (with yellow rally lights mounted). Full WRX power train conversion. Subtle aftermarket exhaust, intake, and mild tune. Upgrade brakes maybe (idk enough about the crosstrek to know if that would be necessary). Add roof rack (with mounted spare tire and rally lights). Add trailer hitch. Add mudflaps (not the STI ones though as I don’t want people to think I’m lying about my car). Add these wheels in like a 15” with some beefy rubber on them:

As far as the interior is concerned, remove back and front seats, put recaros up front, and replace the stereo with something a little nicer.

Disclaimer: this is strictly theoretical as I start paying back student loans next month...

I’m about to do just that to a Civic. Except, keep it red.

Similar yes. A little less show and a little more function.

Rally civic? What year? (I’m not too fond of the newer ones... my gf has a 2013... its a lease...)

I’d imagine theres probably just as much aftermarket help (if not more) with the civic as there is with the impreza platform, but theres probably a lot of sifting through shit from the “I don’t know what I’m doing crowd.” Subaru solves some of the idiocy by having factory performance parts that could be taken from more premium models, but I’m not familiar at all as to the OEM parts (even if they are from other models) Honda offers for performance.

I wanted a Crosstek when originally shopping for my Dart, but could not find one in my budget. So much potential in a little car, I’d love to see you build one how you described.

Yeah it’s pretty horrible. The worst part was when we were driving from MN (where she’s from) back to NH and it was my turn to drive... I went to get on the highway and there was basically no throttle response so I floored it to get up to speed. About an hour later she is asleep and I figured out how to turn off eco mode... when it was her turn to drive again she was bewildered at what I had done (she had never driven it not in eco mode).

Yeah the manuals seem to be especially rare but I suppose I could fairly soon (next 12-18 months) be in a position to buy a new car and its always an option to order...

Its an older EK body one, a hatch.

Might I suggest a slight alteration on the wheels?

nice I always liked how clean those looked. The new ones (as with almost all new cars) just look too busy.

If I went with that style I’d probably go with a different color body and white wheels. I think I like these because I really like them on early GTIs and BMWs

I was just suggesting these because they’re actual rally wheels and are often found on WRB rally Subarus

true, but I was just pointing out how great those (and similar) wheels look in white:

That was the worst part. You would have to floor it to get up to speed. And since its only a 5 speed automatic, it kind of got lost on the highway when you needed to pass...

When I was coming home from work one night and I couldn’t pass an older Kia Sportage I knew it had to go...

I always thought hers was a CVT... probably because I expected that to be awful. I mean my old S80 had 4-speed and that would still haul when it had to

I agree entirely. I’m not much of a Honda guy, but these older ones look great.

13 was the last year for the 5 speed automatic and after that they switched to the CVT

Honestly I drove both and I don’t know which I preferred. The CVT is just weird... makes a lot of noise but doesn’t actually get anywhere and its still weird to not feel it shift

At least in mine gear changes were noticeable. You could (and would) redline it if you mashed that pedal hard enough...

Anyway Im just glad honda has great resale value. It was actually cheaper for me to break my lease in the middle of it than to keep the car the full 3 years and pay the end of lease fees...
