So I finished work, have three nights off, just bought 15x440ml cans of Guinness Draught for GBP£13.48 (USD$25.13) and about to settle down and watch the third episode of Dr Who Series 9, Under The Lake.
Happy days all, happy days.

Hey, unrelated note: I can’t tell if I’m retired or just lazy, but either way, I think I want to start watching Dr. Who. But that shit goes back like 50 years, and I have zero exposure as of now, so where’s a good place to start?

Not tried that but then again I’ve never heard of it. Will have to give it a try, well the Taddy Porter (it even predates Guinness by one year and it’s from my side of the river) if I can find it.

I may be mistaken, but the fact that Sam Smith is the oldest existing brewery in Britain is floating around in my stupid, drunk head for some reason. But yeah, the Smiff Nut Brown blows Guinness out of the water.

You can watch them from the start but I think if your new to it then maybe Series 1 titled ‘Rose’ from 2005 with Rose Tyler as his assistant was when the modern Dr Who came about will probably be the best for you.
All of them prior were great but not sure how not British audiences would take it.

I’ll have to give it a try (looking at their website now). I’ve been drinking Guinness since I was about 14. I even remember the party that started it all off.
I’m open to new drinks. Where do you source yours from?

Just realised your on this side of the pond. Doh.
Ye’, you can watch the old ones but the new ones are probably more up for more modern minds. The older ones though good don’t really affect the newer ones other than give a little understanding of how the whole franchise started.

Nah, I’m in California. But, I’m just nerdy enough to feel bad about never having watched Dr. Who.

I live in San Diego, which is currently the beer capitol of the world (until we lose the title to Portland), and I also travel a lot and try to sample as many beers as possible everywhere I go. I’m a major beer nerd. To the point where it’s annoying to my friends.

Oh I took it from the Samuel Adams that you were a ‘Limey’, sorry fella.
Dr Who takes me back to my childhood and stuff I watched back then. It was a very different time and very different from what the U.S. had on TV.
If your curious about the old shows I’m sure there are a few on YouTube.
The episode I just watched ended on a ‘to be continued’ cliff-hanger. :(

Corrected it for you. Lol.
I have a friend who will wax lyrical about craft beers but it’s down to the individual. I don’t prescribe to drinking norms or what you should drink with what your eating but to go out and try them and find what’s right for you in that moment. I will happily drink a Pinot Grigio while eating a steak with peppercorn sauce.
You’ve got to keep trying new things.

Nah dude. 130+ craft breweries with another 200+ planned or under construction. I’m going to go ahead and give SD the title.

Lol. Why not. One day you can visit the old country and partake of some beers that will outstand you. :)

I’ve been to England. I found the beer too warm lol. Ireland is 3rd on my list at the moment, after Amazon River cruise and Australia.

Lol. You’ll have to pop up to Cumbria and try some of our stuff.
I do like Irish stuff a lot. The whiskey for me is the best and there stouts and porters are great.
Temperatures of drinks really depend on what it is your drinking.

My greatest failing as a man is my inability to appreciate whiskey. I’m more of a tequila and rum guy. Too much time in Latin America I guess.

It’s not an inability to appreciate whiskey if your appreciating something else.
I’ve had a few rums. Mostly of British nautical history significance and want to get into my routes historical significance such as Barbados Mount Gay rum from Carlisle Bay Barbados (I was born and raised in Carlisle, England and it’s historic routes meander all over the world from Downing Street, London to Gibraltar to the Caribbean.

Possibly. It’s supported the boom so far. We love us some beer around here.
