when you parallel park a full size SUV into a rather tight space
This place in particular was in uptown Manhattan and annoying to get to via subway. I decided to drive. It took me less than an hour from Long Island, door to door... and I got free parking.
If I took the LIRR train, $11 for one way off peak + 2.75 for a subway ride and then walk for 20 minutes. Time wise, that would take 1 hour 45 minutes, minimum.
Even if I counted gas (and I would still need a car to drive to the train station) I saved about $10 of money and nearly 2 hours of time.

Free Parking?
In Manhattan?
Damn! That’s one thing you won’t find in Chicago.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was 2 guys trying to get a Navigator into a spot for a smart car. 15 minutes later they were still there. It must have been a 500 point turn

I seem to be the only person at my Midwest high school that knows how to parallel park. I can thank both of my parents for that.

Well they never taught parallel parking in my school’s driver’s ed course, so...

The last time I drove downtown it cost $32 for 4 hours. That was the penalty for having a full size Truck.
Now, I buy an all day CTA pass for $10 and deal with it.
The issue with Public Transportation isn’t the transportation. It’s the Public.

There’s a good app called Best Parking for Android and iOS that helps you find cheap parking in your area/desired location.

I honestly never thought of that!
Thanks.

free parking: non existent in seattle. I've resorted to $8/hr garages and the like
