I personally adore grand tourers. They are by far the most attractive car one can buy. They don’t excel at either luxury or sport but are the perfect combination of both.

For example the Lincoln Model KA shown above could travel across the country with great ease and comfort or accelerate to a top speed that most cars of the 1930’s could only dream of reaching.

Grand Tourers embody my favorite part of being a car enthusiast. Escaping and exploring new lands with the absolute best craftsmanship and engineering to get you there. Also with cars like a Mercedes CL65, Aston Martin DBS, and CTS-V falling under this category you could say I made a pretty great choice.

Muscle Cars.

Muscle was available from very utilitarian power machines, to some classy rides, I mean when Buick’s and Mercury’s were tearing up the drag strip and Mercury even wreaking havoc on the NASCAR circuit you really could do anything.

Big Block station wagon? Why the hell not and you’re damn right it needs a hood scoop. 2 door pilarless hardtop? Yeah that’s cool. 4 door sedan? damn right.

Muscle Cars were the way to make every style of car all kinds of cool.

I could not agree with you more. Muscle cars were a great way for the mundane to become the stuff of legends. They had outstanding styling and sounded better than anything else. It is very hard to beat a good muscle car.

Large Luxury cars. There’s something that I’ve grown to appreciate for them over the years. They make statements sure, and they look high end and luxurious for the most part, but what I like is the sense of being the ultimate sound depravation chambers.

From the quiet cabins, to the softly tuned suspension, to the overboosted power-steering, these cars are designed to just make the world around not exist. They’re cars that you reward for finally living out the dream of owning one, and they reward you back by making any imperfections, noise, harshness, or general discomfort nonexistent. There’s something relaxing about a car that doesn’t encourage you to go fast, or be sporty, or do anything else, it’s just there to make sure that whatever troubles or bad experiences you have, are just washed away in a personal cocoon. It’s the car equivalent to having a really good wife or girlfriend, no matter what may happen, it’s a facet of your life that will always be there to make you realize that everything will be okay, it's something you worked hard for, and as long as you treat it right and take care of it, it will do the same to you.

I guess, for someone like me, who’s experienced a lot of stuff in his life that I really struggle with and wish to forget about. These cars represent the ultimate safe-haven from any troubles I may have going on. Like the aforementioned girlfriend comparison, I’ve yet to experience it due to a lot of factors, but when I finally do, I’ll make sure I'll cherish it forever.

That is an excellent point. Luxury cars was my number 2 choice. The only reason I had to say no to them was they lacked a sportiness if I wanted to engage in some spirited driving in the twisty stuff.

I like the analogy of a good girlfriend it makes a lot of sense. The car supports you and asks only what you are willing to give.

Big luxury was my second choice however they lack a sportiness to be my number 1. And if you say S65 AMG I think grand tourer. A regular S430 however I am a little less jazzed about because it wouldn’t be as fun around the corners.

Sports cars, from around 1985 to 1995. They were still fairly simple, but had enough technology to keep from breaking down every day. I own one now and I’m pretty sure most of the cars I’ll own in the future will fit that description.

I love the 70’s land yachts because I grew up with them, and managed to keep them. Somewhere I have a picture of my ‘73 LeSabre with my grandparents standing in front of it when it was new.

I also love my old MG TF. Quirky, slow but feels fast, dangerous deathtrap that it is, it’s another family piece that I just can’t part with. My mother bought it in 1968 and it’s been part of the family ever since.

Editing to add, I love so many things about so many cars I just can’t write them all down. I love the way my ‘98 supercharged Riviera drove. I love the way my wife’s Passat Wagon drives. I love the way my ‘05 Yukon XL 8100 drove even though he was a thirsty bastard... Basically every car I spend a lot of time in I get to love it’s pros and not hate the cons...

I’ve always loved sports cars. I class them as a two-seat (usually) rear-drive car built with the sole purpose of going fast with minimal concessions to comfort or practicality. All my dream cars are sports cars but ironically, I’ve never owned a true sports car. The closest I ever came was my 1983 Datsun 280ZX which is more of a GT car I think. Good question!

They are smooth, quiet, comfortable, understated, elegant, and refined. Yet powerful and composed. Sort of the sleeper/GT car combo.

The 1965-75 Buick Riviera GS and 1981-96 Jaguar XJ-S embody this. So does the Bentley Continental R/T/SC/Azure.

To me, this can refer to anything from a Chevy SS to a Suburban to a Ram SRT10. This is for a few reasons: I’m tall and I don’t fit in smaller cars, I’m an enthusiast so I like fast stuff, and they’re still large and practical while doing so. They satisfy any and all of my automotive needs.
