The lease special offer on a new BMW 320i forces you to stay under $35,400. I dare any one of you to build a car with any sort of options to stay under that number.
I live in Ohio, so all I really wanted was heated seats and the sport package with a manual. For added extravagance, I optioned folding rear seats for the trunk. Yeah, $36,970. Ridiculous, what’s the point of even having the special then?

Delete the sport package ... keep the heated seats and split rear seats, manual transmission:

Can’t you just put those hand warmer things in your butt pockets so you have heated seats everywhere?

I’m pretty sure the performance stripes gives you more benefits than the sport package

you know for $35,400 you can buy a
very
nice 2008 335i, AND an E36 M3, and still have money left over for mods

Oh yeah, definitely. Or a FoST or FiST with lots of money left over.
I just can’t understand their logic with the lease offer if you can’t have more than two options! By the time you get it optioned to be worth having, you might as well get the 328i

Oh yeah, the better car for sure and the lease offers aren’t absurd either. You get to go to $37,900 for a 228i

eh. brand snobs. it’s the ultimate badge-snob machine.
BMW used to be great, but not so anymore. AMG, RS, and V have surpassed them,
Oh how the mighty have fallen

the 3 series is nice but I think the 320i is kind of pointless. Only 180 hp at 35000$ before anything. There are plenty of cars with turbo 4s that have way more power and cost less. Golf r comes to mind. If I recall it goes under 90mph in the quarter mile. That’s super slow especially when 6 cylinder accord goes 101 through the quarter in a car and driver test. A used 10 cylinder m5 is less expensive and so much faster. plus it has that dumb looking tiny single exhaust pipe to one side of the car. The mazda 3 has dual exhausts to each side and starts under 20000$

can you not negotiate with a dealer to knock off some money down to the special lease price with the spec you want?

The lease specials are loss leaders. No different than whatever doorbuster sales retailers have for the day after Thanksgiving for “limited quantities”.

Base F30s are pieces of shit. No thanks. They’re worth $10k at the most to me.

Yep, they have screwed up. Pre-2007 designed BMW is best.

Oh I know it’s almost exclusively for brand snobs but I do personally like the idea of the Jalopnik special BMW and I just would like heated seats for here in Ohio on my next car.
I was just floored at how difficult they make it to get a decently trimmed 320i, kinda defeats the whole purpose of considering them if a Focus ST or GTI is beating it in almost every category lol

I bought my F30 328i CPO, about 1 year old, for $32k . It has M-Sport, tech, a sunroof, and nothing else. I’ve put about $10k in mods, including most of the M Performance offerings and Dinantronics Stage 1, and am still only about $42k into it. For what it’s worth, I’m still way under the base price of an equivalent 335i and am having way more fun with it. If anybody asks me, I always recommend CPO, as it’s the best of both worlds.
