The weirdest really should be the Honda Crossroad, which was a LR Discovery.

Dodge Attitude! The newest one is just a Mitsubishi Mirage

Kinja'd!!!

Previous generations were just Hyundai Accents with Dodge badging and Hyundai badges on the back.

How’s the Simca-Talbot Horizon a weird rebadge? It’s no rebadge at all, if I’m not mistaken.

Isn’t it a rebadge of the Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon?

Sort of the other way around. The L body was a modified version of the Talbot.

Since nobody is bothering to give sources on the Simca-Talbot Horizon:

The US market Omni/Horizon was a derivative of the Simca-Talbot Horizon , which was sold as a Simca, Chrysler, or Talbot depending on market and year.

So the Omni/Horizon that we got is actually the badge-engineered version.

Simca-Talbot was Chrysler Europe, so as rebadges go, it’s closer to Toyota’s use of the Scion name in the US. However, it gets weirder. The US Omni/Horizon shared the looks with the European version, but few major parts, including engine, suspension, and even body panels.

adding info to each selection, possibly describing the car in question and why it was so would probably wouldn’t have added anything at all to this.......... I mean the Routan is a given.. but the rest?

Simca was Chryslers brand in Europe. It is like calling the Vuxhaul VXR a rebadge of the Holden Commadore, or the Infiniti Q6o a rebadge of the Nissan Skyline Coupe.

It was designed by Simca right? Simca (or Chrysler Europe for that matter) was bought by PSA shortly after the launch, and Chrysler got the rights to continue production for north america and further developed the car independently from PSA. That technically makes the Horizon the ‘original’, and the Dodge Omni the ‘rebadge’.

I remember seeing that “Acura” at an auto show when I was like, 12? I didn’t know a lot about cars, but we happened to have arrived there in a rental Isuzu Trooper. I just marveled at the Acura, thinking, how can they charge $10,000 for some Acura badges? Who would buy this?? WTF

Knew about all of these except for #2 and #10.

There are other weirdly rebadged cars in Latin America... like the VW Apollo (Euro Ford Orion), VW Pointer/Logus (Euro Ford Escort) and the Ford Royale.

These rebadges are the result of a Ford-VW joint venture called Autolatina:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autolatin…

And if you want to read about some interesting weird model whoring/rebadging, read up on the Opel Kadett E:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Kade…

And also just read up on the RWD and FWD versions of the GM T platform:

No, Chrysler Europe was actually the lead developer on the Horizon project. If anything, the Dodge/Plymouth versions were rebadges of the Simca.
