Last week !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on racing games for the PS4 I expected to purchase later this year. After finding out that you must also !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I went back the drawing board and started to do a little more research into the PS4 vs. Xbox One arena.

After quite a few hours of comparing every last detail that I could Google, I’ve decided to jump ship and become an XBox One owner, or XBoner, if you will.

So, fellow Oppo XBoners, bring me up to speed. I plan to get Forza 6 as my first game, but what others are worth checking out? Any tips or tricks for XBonership? I assume there is a Forza 6 league/club/group to join?

Horizon 2 is great. Sunset Overdrive is a favourite of mine when it comes to non driving games.

Someday I’d like to get into PC, but budget and time just don’t support it at this point.

Definitely intrigued by the ability to apply mods and such.

You don’t need to drop $2k on a gaming computer. If you’re willing to build it yourself there are good $600 build guides you can find. Factor in things like Steam sales and you’ll actually end up spending less in the long run

The Master Chief Collection is well worth your time and money. Halo is a fucking fantastic franchise; great story, great shooting, gorgeous graphics.

Aside from Forza, that is about all I play. There are a bunch of games coming online with the backwards-compatibility update. The Mass Effect series is also very good, and you can get those 360 discs cheap right now.

On the straight RPG side, I really enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur. Not sure if it will be included with the backwards-compatibility update or not, but if it is, it is a breathtakingly beautiful game. Every single area is prettier than the last one, and the fighting mechanics are very good. There are a bunch of fatal, game-breaking bugs as the dev went under just after release, but it is still a fun game to play.

Others will recommend the Forza Horizon series. I am not a fan, but I also dislike arcade racers, so try the demo and if you like it, it is a very good game for what it is.

You still have to lay for Xbox Live Gold to play online with other people you know. It’s only $5/month and well worth it to play with friends.

I was hoping for more of an explanation as to why you made the jump? I love my old PS3, and I'm sure when I get around to upgrading I will go to the PS4, although will likely end up with both at some point, although maybe not, I tend to drop more money into house, Car and computers, before I get to spending it on consoles.

TBH Forza is the only thing that’d get me to get an Xbox, most things aside from the MLB games are cross-platforms so really MLB games are the only thing tying me to my PlayStation right now.

Really it came down to selection of games and cost. The system is marginally cheaper and there seem to be frequent deals on 12-month Live subscriptions that make them slightly cheaper then PS+.

If I had the money, I’d get both, but the Xbox just has more to offer me in particular at this point so I’m going to give it a try. I’ve loved my PS1, 2, and 3, so there’s definitely no ill will there.

That was one of the deciding factors. Most everything else I usually play is on both so Forza, combined with slightly cheaper cost tipped the scales.

Most of my friends are split between PS3/4 and PC anyway so it doesn’t make entirely too much sense for me to switch to Xbox, though I do wanna play Forza.

Dishonoured is a lot of fun (multiplat). They just released that updated Gears of War, but I haven’t played it yet (Xbone exclusive, future PC). Rare Replay (exclusive) collection has Battle Toads, so no need to piss off your local GameStop asking for it. Elite Dangerous (currently Xbone (beta ends tonight, full release tomorrow), PC exclusive) is a ton of fun for me; easily one of my favorite games ever (~150 hours played in the three or four months I’ve had it). As someone else mentioned, Halo MCC (exclusive) so you can get caught up for Halo 5 this year. Then there’s the old faithful Call of Duty for when you absolutely have no clue what to do with your time (played the BlOps 3 beta, pretty fun). Tomb Raider Definitive Edition was recently on Games for Gold, might still be on sale. Raise of the Tomb Raider is coming later this year (limited time exclusive). Forza Horizons 2 is pretty fun when you want to dick around.

I vastly prefer my Xbone to the PS4 (and my PC to my Xbone). It’s much more comfortable to use, and the controller works better for my big hands. And as you said, with the exception of maybe Bloodborne, the games worth having are multiplat anyway, so you’re not missing out. Welcome to the Green Side.

Forza Horizon 2, Forza 6, F1 2015, Project cars(?), Metal Gear, Halo 5 is about to come out, and there is just a glut of games coming out soon

If you’re getting Forza 6, you should consider getting Forza Horizon 2 as well. It’s just a lot of fun. Sure, the driving physics in it have been hit a little with the figurative “arcade” bat, but if realism is your goal for getting the game, you’re doing it wrong . It’s all about the enjoying yourself in the many amazing cars, the beautiful scenery, the crazy racing events, the various challenges and goals, the randomness spurred on by the boneheaded Horizon 2 drivatars during free roaming, and just having FUN.

Also, you don’t get rally or offroading stuff in Forza 5 or 6, sooo...there’s that fun stuff.
