The Subaru ended up floating through a foot of water, but luckily everything seems all good. This lady’s Mercedes, which my friends pushed, didn’t do as well.

Shit man. I guess it’s time to get a swimming badge for the back of your Subie, eh?

Sounds like a good idea. Haha. One of my friend’s has a check engine light on her Crosstrek from going through her neighborhood. It’s really bad here.

Poor CLK.

That’s quite a lot.

Yep, 3 feet in some places, and the rain is supposed to keep going through tomorrow.

I probably just wouldn’t leave the house if I were there.

My college campus is now under water, so I’m pretty much stuck here.

Whenever this happens in England (it happens a lot) Land Rover owners all over the country come flying out to help... actually they don’t. They come out to show off since Land Rovers are pretty much the only cars that can deal with floods. I’m just wondering if this is the same Stateside and if you have seen a bunch of Rovers who appear to be aimlessly driving about in full view of everyone else, in particular X5 owners.

I've seem a jeep going through water that deep.
![]() 10/04/2015 at 19:31 |

Oh yeah, Jeep are a thing. The only Jeeps you really see here are Wranglers.

Interesting that the truck in the pic is in water barely up to it’s axles. I guess that’s why they say “don’t drive into standing water.”

Robbie (the guy who was with me at the Oppo meet back in Greensboro) was supposed to drive to Charleston, SC for work today, but had to clear all his appointments due to the rain.
Thankfully, there’s little to no flooding here in Raleigh, just constant rain that’s starting to piss all of us off. I have seen a few cars in ditches because of idiot drivers, though.
Try and stay safe and dry.

why the heck are people out driving around in this crap?
![]() 10/04/2015 at 20:52 |

Will do. I’ve heard that Charleston is terrible. Anyways, I’m stuck on campus until the water goes down, as all the exits are not passable.

In certain parts, it was up to the doors of the tow truck.

Because the rain started at 2ish, and people got off work at 5 and were trying to get home.

I somehow managed to skirt the worst of it, though the Lowes Food parking lot near campus is basically a shallow retention pond right now.
![]() 10/04/2015 at 21:17 |

It’s more than shallow. They have blocked all of the entrances and exits due to high water on campus. The parking garage apparently is under water on the first floor, and the amphitheater is basically a swimming pool.

Do you know how bad the nearby grocery store (and that whole plaza thing,am I even making sense?) Is flooded?
![]() 10/04/2015 at 22:49 |

TBH if I had a land rover I would cruise around showing off too.

Since nobody else did it yet...

Haha. That could have easily been a reality. I did stop a crosstrek from going through the 3 feet water.

If your talking about where I’m thinking your talking about, then that's the area where I went through more than a foot of water, and floated my Subaru.

Yeah, I saw the kids swimming in the amphitheater. It didn’t exactly look like the smartest thing to do, but I couldn’t come up with an exact reason why.
And it sounds like my erring on the side of caution may have paid off for one of my co-workers. I told her she should probably park her car on one of the higher floors of the parking garage.

Glad her car didn’t get destroyed. Also, swimming wasn’t the smartest choice for the people that did it. They promoted campus safety to send this email out.

Come Tuesday we’ll all know who the rocket scientists were that were swimming in the amphitheater. If you see someone who’s scratching like crazy or has a huge rash, you’ll know.
![]() 10/05/2015 at 01:34 |

Yep. Haha, also shit like this.
My suite mate also had to take his friend to the ER earlier when he started getting swollen all over, in addition to a rash from swimming in the amphitheater. I'm sure there will be many more cases.

I think it’s called University Commons or University Centre. I know it’s near Jeff Gordon Chevrolet. But I haven’t been to Wilmington since August, so I don’t really remember that area as well as I should.

Yep, thats the shopping center.
