Edit: Lots more details on the source article. It seems a wheel came off a 918 at speed during a demonstration and the car spun into the crowd.

We had some idiot burn out on the street near the C&C area, he jumped the divider and crashed into the light pole. Nobody was hurt but we now have a cop getting coffee in the morning at Starbucks during the event! What a coincidence!

Wow. I can’t imagine what those people are going through right now.
It looks to me like a wheel didn’t come off of the car itself but rather went off the track causing loss of control.

Yeah. I saw that too after reading the wheel idea on in the article.
I bet the driver is shattered inside over this, he was just there to give rides in his car for charity.

No kidding. I wouldn’t be surprised if he never drives on a track again. If it were me I would probably sell my collection (assuming he has one) and start some kind of fund for those affected by what happened. It’s the only way I think I would be able to not feel like a monster.
