Just about 700 miles. Learned a few things.

1st: Ohio construction sucks dick. I thought I could complain with Michigan, but good god, it just didnt stop. You wouldn’t have been able to guess that I-75 is a pretty major highway with the way it was all closed up. And then the back roads we got sent on were just as bad too. Also, a wood pallet on the side of the road telling people the road is closed really isnt sufficient.

2nd: People that use their brights on the highway also suck dick, this also applies to those who use the over the top blue ones. On those arrow straight roads they blind you in your mirrors forever.

3rd: Got my cruise control to work, and damn is that a godsend.

4th: The gas mileage on the GP is less than stellar, I averaged maybe 23 mpg if I was lucky.

5th: I am tired, and my legs are tired.

Sleepy, sleepy, sleep.

The GP also hit 110,000 miles, so thats cool

Had you done it in a GT3, I bet you would be significantly more tired and sore.

Also IMO heated seats are great for long distance driving. Even in hot conditions with the AC on high, having a seat heater turned to low does great things for my back.

I actually do have heated seats. But its was the awkward temperature outside plus some drizzle that forced you to keep the heat on while making everyone one in the car hot and uncomfortable.
So I’m not sure the heated seats would have helped today, but thats not a bad idea for next time.

I once drove about 700 miles in 9 hours. There was a lot of Redbull involved.

I’ve done 600 miles Ohio and back in the 944 on two occasions . Try that on a turbulent and stormy day without a working cruise control, no stability control and abs, 1.5ft deep water, and winds strong enough to not only annoy you, but annoy some big azz trucks, and you’ve got yourself one helluvan adventure!!(That was only on the second trip). I damn near spun out on the entrance ramp but that’s another story. :p

I-75 is still under construction?? I’ve had to make runs to Ohio three times since April and they’re not done? They won’t finish before winter then. The wood pallets and messed up roads before you get to Monroe are killer.

Damn I bet....

This wasnt that bad, but I did have a swim meet in the middle of it all. It was leave yesterday, drive 6ish hours, sleep, wake up, drive, swim, drive for another 6ish hours.

Its been a lovely two days.

Yeah, 75 was a shit show. Its crazy narrow right now, semi’s are fucking all over the place, it was that gross drizzle, dark, and just about as windy and you were saying. All sorts of awesome.

Everyman for himself until you get to Toledo. Sounds spot on to me. I almost forgot how shitty the weather was today. Took the 944 to Lingenfelter’s in Brighton, probably the last long distance trip for the year. Everyone was driving with a purpose this morning.

The important thing is that we both survived to do this shit again next year. ^_^

I don’t envy you, but at least you got to sleep in the middle there. I “allegedly” averaged 78mph including stops on that trip. You do the math.

Yeah that was on the way down, on the way back we bailed and went west and picked up 69 in Indiana. I wasnt worth the construction again.

TBH, it's much better coming back than heading out. Unless they've ruined some stuff, there were three lanes open from construction up to telegraph at least.

I did 550ish miles in a day a few weeks ago. I’d never driven that much in a day.

Driving a great car (WRX) through interesting roads made it inconsequential... Loved it.

I’ll probably be driving my NA 550 miles or so to Michigan this May. Unless I’m told I have to fly. That would be the longest I’ve ever driven so I’d like to do it in my own car.

When you can do St Louis to Colo Springs in 10 hours- in the dead of winter, wake me up.
