Hello everyone, I haven’t been posting much lately, been busy with school and life. Opponions needed though.

I happened to see this at a used car lot here in town the other day.

Kinja'd!!!

I stopped and looked at it with Mrs. Blacktruck last weekend. It’s an ‘04 Ram SRT-10, 50,000 miles they are asking $21,500. It’s mostly stock, it has headers, custom exhaust and it’s tuned, about 475 hp at the wheels. The only real problem with it is 3 of the wheels are curbed and would need to be re-done, aside from that it’s pretty clean.

Mrs. Blacktruck told me I can get it, if I sell or trade in blacktruck and the Lincoln.

For those who don’t know or remember, blacktruck is a 2014 Ram 1500 RCSB. Still under factory bumper to bumper warranty for about another year and about 80,000 miles of power train warranty. I really like it, aside from not having power seats there is nothing I can say I don’t like about it.

Kinja'd!!!

And the Lincoln is my 1979 Lincoln Continental, 42,000 miles, barn find. It’s pretty much amazing in every conceivable way. I am not joking, I really love this car, out of all the cars I have owned it it definitely in my top 3. I bought it with the intention of flipping it but I really like it, I have given up on selling and I have every intention of keeping it for awhile. Flipping it is definitely not going to happen. I love it way too much to sell it just to make money off it.

Kinja'd!!!

But, a Ram SRT-10 is definitely on my dream car list. I have almost bought 2 in the past, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it at the time. Yes, the gas mileage is horrible and it will be expensive to maintain, but they are awesome trucks. Just the fact that someone at Dodge was ballsy enough to think it up and get it approved makes me love them.

Last fact: the SRT-10 has side exit exhaust. It sounds like all the good sex. Not drunk, alright he or she is the last person in this bar that I am somewhat willing to go home with sex, the sex you imagine happening with the your #1 fantasy celebrity sex.

Kinja'd!!!

TLDR and summation:

1. Buy Ram SRT-10 dream truck

2. Giving up blacktruck which is still under warranty and my Lincoln which is an amazing vehicle

What would oppo do?

Keep your two vehicles. No need to give up 2 very different vehicles you love for just one you could potentially have second thoughts about.

That’s kind of where I am, however the sensible person in me still bought a ‘79 Lincoln that gets 10MPG, my sensible may be broken.

I say do it. What’s the worst that can happen? It’s not like you really need the Lincoln, and you’ll have a relatively reasonable replacement for the ‘14. Sure giving up the warranty isn’t a great proposition, but you already know maintenance on the SRT isn’t going to be cheap.

I’d stick with the current setup, blacktruck and the Lincoln. You’ve got two great vehicles that’ll take you through however long it takes to get your degree. When you’re making that sweet supply chain management money I’d say get some SRT10 craziness. Plus two mostly reliable cars, one warrantied, are better than one possibly sketchy one. I'd say go for the SRT if it weren't for school.

I was thinking along those same lines, stock the SRT isn’t that much faster, than my truck.

I love fast trucks which is why I think the SRT-10’s are cool. But my truck is almost brand new, stock, under warranty, doesn’t get 10MPG’s, and is almost as fast. The kind of makes the speed argument invalid.

Is the SRT10 a stick? If not, I say keep your current stable. If so, I’d consider it more seriously, but I personally don’t think it’s worth trading a special car like the Lincoln for the Ram. You will always find other SRT10s but I doubt you'll see many other Lincolnshire with a history like yours.

I have pretty much shit all over my position to negotiate. When I bought blacktruck our deal was no more vehicles for me until Mrs blacktruck got something newer. 18 months later I bought the Lincoln and Mrs blacktruck still has her Volvo.

I am shocked she even considered the SRT.

I’m going to have to be real here and say that it all depends on how you feel about the Lincoln, and it’s a decision only you can decide on. If you’ve had it for long enough, maybe it’s time to “tick another box”.

That is the other thought in my head, I already have a plan for blacktruck once the warranty is up. It would be cheaper to modify it than the SRT.

That is kind of my thinking too, I bought blacktruck so I wouldn’t have to worry about maintenance while I was in school. Selling it would be counter to that.

The sweet supply chain management money is going to an Ariel Atom. That will be my first job after graduation gift to myself.

BTW, how’s things?

That’s part of the problem I think, I have only had it for a couple of months. I haven’t even had it long enough to get the mouse piss smell out of the trunk.

I definitely am not bored with it.

The SRT10 is a stick, but blacktruck has decent push button shifting, I can sorta kinda but not really have manualish fun when I want but not deal with a manual day to day.

Ya, there aren’t many 1 owner ‘79 Lincolns running around any more. Plus, if I sell it I won’t have anywhere to listen to the Johnny Cash 8-tracks I found in the trunk when I bought it.

Pretty much the same reason I got the Dart. Factory warranty is pretty nice, 5 years/100K on my power train.

I see your Ariel Atom and raise you, why not both? I mean you’ll need a tow vehicle... (Can the SRT10 tow?)

Things are going very well with school, work, and life. I’ve rebounded from my bad semester and on track to get finish with a degree in Mass Communication and a minor in International Business. Work is good as well, though that isn't hard when your job revolves around chocolate, coffee, and wine. Life is straight up peachy because of the first two, gonna be saving over winter for a motorcycle and gear is the plan. How about yourself? Settled in from the move and adjusting to school?

I know right, half the time I feel like I am driving around with Robert Deniro in the passenger seat scowling at people.

Why you getting rid of it? Actually sell it than fly out here and buy the SRT that will end my conundrum.

School isn’t bad, I only have 1 class I hate, getting good grades all is well.

Living here is getting old. No good restaurants, no ocean, no mountains, people say warsh instead of wash. We might fly out to WA on Spring break just to eat good Asian food and seafood.

So I guess the question is, do you think you would like the truck more? I mean I’m sure the Lincoln is fun to be in, but the SRT must be so much fun to drive, I guess it also depends on what kind of fun you are looking for.

I had to google it but the manual SRT10 isn’t factory rated to tow anything, the auto’s however are rated at 7,000lbs so... I would think the manul could handle an Atom and trailer.

That’s good to hear, I am so glad I don’t have to work while I am going to school. If I had to do both I don’t know how well it would work out. I don’t think Ivhave the energy to deal with that all that anymore.

Can’t complain, school is going well, I only have 1 class I hate and I am doing really well grade-wise so far. We are pretty much settled into to our house, I still have some stuff to unpack but for the most part that stuff is done and we have adjusted to the new place. I still wish we had a real yard, but whatever it’s cheap enough to deal with it and the dog doesn’t seem to mind too much.

I really like the way the Durango’s and GC’s look and they both come with Hemi’s so you can spend a ton of money on gas.

When I bought my truck, it was a left over and I got it for almost $7,000 off MSRP which seems pretty good for a $28,000 vehicle. You should try to go that route if you want new. All of the 2015’s will be getting really cheap towards the end of the year.

I can’t even begin to imagine how expensive it would be to Hellcat blacktruck. It would be awesome but I am sure it would be insanely expensive.

The class is called Intro to Visual Culture, it a fine arts class. The class is kind of dumb, Why is the Home Depot sign Orange? type of stuff, it’s super simple. The professor is late everyday and seems unprepared, it annoys the shit out of me. To me if my money or tuition pays you, you need to provide me a service. If I called a plumber and they did a half ass job it’s going to annoy me, I see professors the same way.

We have a huge open lot at the end of our street, it’s probably almost 2 acres. We go down there almost everyday and walk around, it works pretty well.

Absurdly expensive and absurdly awesome. Supercharger builds are relatively cheap I’m sure.

That sounds pretty terrible, good thing its only the one class. I’m done with that fine arts stuff thankfully, it’s all major/minor related stuff from here on out.

Sounds like a decent place. I have a small patch of woods near the house that my dogs enjoy, but we are lucky enough to have a large backyard.
