And you get stuck with cutting 10mm off of ~8000 bricks....

I say you go into zombie mode by brick 1200

I know pain of this kind....

Surely it would be easier and cheaper to have 8,000 bricks made to spec than buying the bricks and getting them cut down.

If the price is right!

I woulda sh!t a brick!

Ah, but they don’t want the rest of the brick, they just want the 10mm sliver off the face to use a tile....

Well, since the customer only wants the 10mm sliver, there is still the matter of 8000 almost-bricks. When I asked the boss what we would do with them, he’s like, “fuck, I hadn’t considered that...”
So now there are random brick stacks all around the factory

they make brick backsplash....unless it’s actually cheaper to get the bricks and have you cut them by a certain factor over buying the splash

Yep, that was when I was officially over it, and I was begging for something else to cut, that’s what the callacutta marble up there is, lol a break from the bricks.
I’m starting from around brick 3000 on Monday.

Okay but isn’t that worse. Do you not have ‘split face tiles’ in the U.S.?
Granted you’d only need 4,000 tiles and get two faces off each tile.

Oh wow. Well hang in there, you got it! *fist bump*

Why not cut one side’s face off, then move the saw over and cut the other side’s face off, using only 4000 bricks, and cutting your time in half?
![]() 10/02/2015 at 17:34 |

It’s for this reason that I think we must gave got shafted on price. The havoc this one job had caused is insane, the clay-water that comes off the saw has to be dug out of the drains each day, the recycled water we use for our saws is now red and it’s fucked one of the two saws pumps (funnily not my saw)
Also every day that my saw is busy cutting bricks that’s x amount of kitchens not getting cut sigh

10mm? Who specs in metric?

Everyone in the world except for the U.S.?

So I take it you work in some sort of masonry factory?
Something I’ve been wondering about: how could a person cut rock? E.g.: lots of farmers around here would be delighted to get rid of rocks in/around their fields. If it were cut, it could make an interesting finish for the side of a house. Basically, free except tools and labour.

that sucks.

Cordless grinder with diamond blade?
![]() 10/15/2015 at 03:38 |

Because there is only 1 face to a brick

For what it’s worth I finished the bricks lol

Nice one. How many did you use in the end? I bet you never want to see another brick ever. What did you do with the left over brick?
