Kinja'd!!!

(The coolest kids... in 2004)

Classes were long today and I was sleep deprived, but I made it through it. I managed to work a Colin Chapman quote into one of my presentations and a picture of a TVR Sagaris into the other. I’ve gotta drive to Lawrence tomorrow to meet with a professor from KU who specializes in prairie ecology. It’ll be a fun trip, and hopefully some different/good food.

I mean, these guys were the coolest kids in 2010 too. No high school kid had 5th gen muscle car even back then.

KC Oppo, too? There’s a small Oppo meet going on around 11 on Saturday morning, if you want to come chill and have BBQ. I put up a post earlier this week...

2004 was great, I was still in college and the world was full of promise and excitement. I hadn’t attained a corporate desk job and the accompanying 50 pounds to the midsection.

I had my 97 Z28 my senior year in HS in 2010, ahh those were the days... though my last day of HS was freaking awesome because this happened:

Kinja'd!!!

only time my 68 went to school with a few buddies and their Camaros.

I still think they are the coolest!

Kinja'd!!!

I’m about to be really sleep deprived. I still have some work due tomorrow (That I really should be doing right now) and actual work tomorrow. Then of course I'm being forced to work late tomorrow night, and I want to go to C&C. And back to work afterwards. It better be a good show.

Yes! I’d love to have a Mach 1, they’re such good looking cars.

Nice!

One of my buddies had a Dart with a built 410 (his family restored mopars, he had something different every month or two), another had a ‘79 Camaro with some big rear tires (eventually it got a 355 crate motor).

Ah, yes... Manhattan, otherwise known as the only gasp of civilization between Topeka and the Colorado state line. :P

other than that last day of high school, the only muscle cars in my high school parking lot was my 97 Z28 and a Fox body cobra. Though the Biology teacher had a big block 70 El Camino and a 65 Nova drag car.

Looks like I’ll be going back to 2004 pretty soon. I’m getting ready to start restoring my 99 Trans Am Ws6 back to its former glory.

Yep. Also the most peaceful city that constantly sounds like it’s at war.

(Yes Fort Riley, we know you’re still there, you can stop shelling any time now)

That was about it for us, one of my other friends had a slant-6 dart though. The only other “cool” car was a 300ZX.

it seemed most of my classmates didn’t care about driving. Most never even went for the license. Was it like that at your HS?

Not a ton of car people. Everybody had licenses, even some who shouldn’t have. There weren’t much for driving roads and there were tons of cops.

Nah, the coolest kids in 2004 had Evos and WRXs. People made fun of Mustangs and Firebirds based on overstyled reworks of ancient platforms.

I remember being very uncool for wanting a Firebird back then.

97 Z28, 02 SS, 02 TA. Im the coolest kid in my neighborhood! And the loudest.

Literally, I live in a sea of Corollas, Altimas, and 1 Honda Civic with what I suspect is a Hamilton Beach Blender motor swap. Except for a house two blocks down. Theres a Terminator on 2 flat tires that hasnt moved the entire time Ive lived here.

Ha! I remember those days! Funny that WRX and EVO owners made fun of the overstyling of others.

Mach 1 with a T56 swap, 4.56 gears and full exhaust would be a blast!

My transmission has been acting up lately. If I had the money I would swap it for a T56 immediately.

I couldn’t imagine 4.56’s. I’m already at 2K on the highway with 3.55’s. With a full exhaust even just cruising down the highway would be awful loud! Sounds like a ton of fun though.

Assuming a Terminator T56 with .63 6th gear and a 275/40-17 tire.

At 70mph with 4.56 gears youd be turning about 2600 rpm.

With 4.10 youd be at around 2300

3.55s would be right at 2000

I seriously considered buying a Mach 1 a few years ago. It was the first time I ever actually thought about buying a muscle car. But it was yellow, and SUPERCHARGED!

I’m an 22 year old Architecture grad student which, if anything, has taught me that growing up doesn’t always mean getting old. Some of my professors may be in their 60’s but are definitely 5-10 at heart.
