What do I do with my XC90?

I have a Volvo XC 90 (2005, V8) back in Indiana. It needs a transmission and electrical work. It has 3 of five forward gears so it can still be "driven." It's also loaded to the gils with the factory DVD player, GPS, 3rd row seats, heated seats and everything else.

I live on another continent now. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the car. I still owe the bank about $1,000 which I can cover in February. Plates are good through June. I can leave it in my in-laws backyard for at least a few months.

A local junkyard in Indy will only give me $500 for it. I'd like to get a bit more from someone who may part it out. The engine is solid even with 150,000+ miles on it. It's the Yamaha-developed 4.0L V8 and would make an awesome swap into a 240.

Would anyone here be interested in this? Other than posting on sweedspeed or similar, I'm not sure what else to do. Any ideas from the Oppo crowd?

How much to get it to normal working condition?

Fully-working the car is worth $5,000 or so. The transmission is $1,000-$2,000 to be fixed. The electrical could also be $1,000. I'm going to be in Europe for the next 3-4 years, so it's not worth it to me to keep it in the USA. I'd rather sell it to an enthusiast for $800, pay the $300 difference to the bank and see the car parts used in some good projects.

Post it on the forums. $500 is way too low. It's an XC90 so of course it needs a new transmission.

You could sell it for like $3,000 in a matter of days.

Post it to swedespeed.

The way I see it you have 2.2 options:

1. Sell the car.

2. Get some people to A) take the car apart, B) sell all the good parts except the engine individually, C) scrap the rest, D) then take said engine, pair it with a fitting transmission, swap it into obvious LS swap candidate, E) afterwards go to car meets and make fun of people with LS swapped cars for being unoriginal.

2.2. Following step C) ship the engine over to Europe, put it in a V70, then DD or give it to me.

Get the electrics fixed and then sell it, with the transmission problems you will get less than the 5 grand it's worth but more than 800 bucks. Some Tavarish-esque person or used car dealer will buy it to flip it.

If you can spend $2k-$3k and sell the car for $5k-ish, that seems like a pretty nice flip for a few grand in your pocket. That's what I'd do at least.
