An M3 or a Renault - which one do you think Chris could post the fastest lap time in? You're wrong. It's the silly French hot hatch. Sure, the Trophy R is an expensive, limited-production track rat with a chassis stiffer than Mit Romney and an obvious weight advantage. Yeah, you're right, Chris is a hooligan at heart, and maybe a different driver could have muscled the M3 around a bit quicker. In the end, we're talking about mere fractions of a second here.
It's just fascinating to me that Renault makes a hatch that for all intents and purposes is as quick as a new M3. As a dedicated BMW nerd, that hurts my feelings. Would I want to show up to my date on Sunday in the Renault? Absolutely not! But I bet it would be a ton of fun. More fun than the M3, perhaps. There's a lot to choose from, but in some cases, you're just wasting time if you're looking for automotive nirvana in the same places you scoured twenty years ago. In my opinion, any driving enthusiast worth his or her salt should be snapping up used metal from the 70's and 80's as fast as possible, before everyone realizes how bloated and numb most modern cars are and everything you'd ever want from those two decades becomes outrageously expensive.
