Normal or weighted? I just started looking at different options because I may replace the Nardi unit in my car for one that will better fit the theme I am eventually aiming for.

I'm interested to see the comments on the variety of knobs that Oppo prefers.

I love weighted knobs (or heavy knobs), they just give a touch more tactile feedback. Not sure if they actually give me an advantage in any way though.

Here are my top knobs.

The Billy Club. Pros: Weighted, fun, close to the wheel, massive. Cons: massive, pricey.

Sparco Tecno: Pros: feels good, racing pedigree. Cons: may not be the best feeling for some.

TWM Big Type R. Pros: cold, shiny, well-weighted. Cons: Incredibly expensive for what it is.

American shifter 8-ball. Pros: Incredibly cheap, classic, good-looking. Cons: not weighted, may be too hot-rod-y for some.

Fingers crossed that this thread is soon inundated with pictures of knobs!

Thats what I wanted to know, if the difference in feel was a good thing.

Can't really say if it's a good thing or a bad thing, depends on personal preference I guess.. But I love the heavier knobs.

i only have one knob
and it is the best knob

I dig the type R, but it does seem costly for a metal knob....

I like weighted knobs if the throws are short, if they're long, I like a lighter knob.

I got worried when I read the first part of your response in the notification.
everything went better than expected.

I hate the metal ones. Man, is that ever a bad idea. Stick with wood or leather-wrapped. I'm not a fan of knobs that are weirdly shaped, either. Give me the classic gearshift knob over all of them.

It would go on a Miata, so yeah pretty short haha
![]() 01/29/2015 at 19:32 |

definitely weighted, then

Kinda wanted to go a different route since I already have a wooden knob.....
But I know the metal ones get hot in the summer, which is when I do most of my driving...with the top down.

knobs everywhere.....

Neither, I use only lightweight delrin knobs on my short shifter equipped FR-S. I like to have every little bit of feedback my gearbox can give me.

I use this one and love it. I have yet to drive a car with a weighted shift knob.

Checking out delrin now

oh thats pretty. Is this what you have in your NB?
![]() 01/29/2015 at 19:48 |

hmmm I'd prefer to get one without any text or shift pattern on it. racecar style haha

It's a fancy plastic, but it's strong, lightweight, and doesn't get too hot in the summer or cold in the winter. Plus I've always found my shifting to be more precise with as light a knob as possible.

Just having trouble finding delrin knobs for Miatas for whatever reason.

I got a Team Voodoo knob powdercoated and engraved for my 6-spd NC Miata. Really like it. Here's the website:

Just find anything in M10 X 1.25 and it should fit, also miataroadster.con has them.

I have no preference, either one really.

my shift knob is chrome from the factory, and I use a sun shade. Never once burned my hand.
