I know we all like cruising Craigslist for finds, but keep your wits, bring a friend, and maybe even a gun. Prayers for their family.
"They planned to drive about 200 miles from their Cobb County home to look at an antique car for sale. But the vintage Ford Mustang didn't exist. After four days of searching, investigators said Monday afternoon that two bodies believed to be the couple were found in southeast Georgia, along with their GMC Envoy.
"It's a sad ending for us in this community," Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said. "We've got a close-knit community here. It hurts us to know that someone came to our community and met this fate."

Elrey "Bud" and June Runion, of Marietta, left their home Thursday morning and made the drive to McRae, where they thought they were meeting a man selling a vintage car through Craigslist. If they liked it, the Runions hoped to buy it and bring it home with them."

Aaaaaaaand that's why I don't do business on craigslist anymore. Serial killers who want my stuff can hit me up on ebay.

Thanks to humanity, craigslist has turned into a shit hole. Sure, there are legitimate deals, but you ALWAYS have to be careful. I always make sure to have my pocket knife on me when meeting with someone. This saddens me to hear what's happened.

You have to remember that this is one out of millions of transactions. Still there's thousands of scammers, and criminals feeding off the site looking for their next victim.

Oh dear. That is quite sad. That's why sometimes it's best to leave the actual cash in the bank until you're ready. A true seller is not going to balk at waiting 20 minutes while you fish it out of the bank, if it's a large enough amount.
Hope they catch the perps.

I should update the post. Thankfully they did catch the guy (even though he used a disposable prepaid phone to communicate with the victims to avoid any traces to him).

Well I hope the few thousands of dollars he stole was worth the lives of two people and his freedom. Lord.

Meet in public. In the case of a project car or something that cannot be easily transported, still meet at the nearest store/gas station/etc. and have him or her escort you back to his or her residence. While not 100% safe, that should hopefully give you some idea of whether or not the seller is legit.

Until I get my CHL, my sidearm stays under a jacket on the center console. I meet them in good places if alone; if not, I bring my dad along.
