So I got to hold this yesterday, I really wish real swords were allowed at Comic Cons... $350 CAD at a local shop, I have never been this close to buying a sword.

"it's not sword! it's a letter opener... I'm expecting a lot of really big mail at comic con... YOU CAN'T KICK ME OUT!"

They don't just peace bond with those zip-tie things on like they used to? (haven't been to a con in a while)

I think peace-bonding is still on at Dragon*Con, at least for weps you buy there. I'm not sure how they are on bringing your own - I think you're supposedly not supposed to.

Well you have to give it to security if it is deemed a functional weapon, even wooden swords are not allowed it they have a point. :(

My buddy has an Urkuk Hai cleaver. I would not want to be on the receiving end of that.

It felt so damn good, the weight is in the middle by your top hand, it almost feels like an axe.

My sister has Legolas' throwing knives, Sting, and Link's Master Sword. Between that and her millions of action figures and my stuff, our shared room growing up was a few Mountain Dew bottles away from growing its own fedora.

My brother got Orkrist, it feels pretty nice as well, I just have such a nerd boner for the High elf warriors.

That's a weird handle:blade ratio.

It feels like it would make an awesome close quarters weapon, lots of power in your swing with minimal space required. It would be an awful duelling sword I think.

I'm not sure 3 feet of handle is all that great for close quarters or adding power. Just use an axe.

I think once you got used to it it would be good, it's not for stabbing so the handle isn't so much of an issue.
I'm no expert but I have played around with a PVC/foam version and it throws people off when they fight you, it rotates extremely fast.

No, and she's in officer training for the next 5 months anyway. Internet matchmaking foiled again!

Why bring a long knife to a gunfight?
I'd want to buy one, but I also know that, frankly, I could gin up something better given time. Auto-ejectors are just springs, after all... borrow a trigger grouping from somewhere...

I'm going to a Renaissance fair next month, always tempted to buy a sword. But they're always expensive enough to where I could just buy another gun...
