Seriously. This seems ironic to me.

Today I was out repairing pipes in people's homes that had frozen over this last cold snap and now have thawed. Water, water everywhere..

What did I come home to? Two soaking wet dogs and about 3/4" of water on the floor through a good half of the house.

This is going to be a long night, week, weekend, month..

I really picked the wrong year to quit smoking.

Update..

No, I did not start smoking again. I have a backup pack of Nic patches and I cracked them open.

Nobody dies tonight. That's important.

I drilled several holes to drain the water to the crawlspace. Why? Because the water was on top of the Laminate flooring that I put down last year. Sadly, it's all trash now.

On the plus side.

The humidity level in the house is perfect.

And two neighbors have already volunteered to help tear things out this weekend.

Jeez, that's tough luck. But, don't start smoking again! (I recently quit as well and was a big "project smoker", so I know how tough it can be.)

A nice thing about having a 120 year old house. Water comes in the basement easily, it goes right back out....

Before too long, put a dehumidifer in the crawl space with a tube draining outside. That much water down there will stay for months. The black mold of death will kill you by labor day.
