!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , including a 1/2 inch drive set. Somebody swiped my trusty Stanley kit several months ago, so I've been borrowing one. I've always had a pretty good experience with Craftsman. They're no Snap-On, but they're far more accessible to someone like me.
Anybody have this kit? Know of any better deals I should go for within the same budget?

I have this kit there's no fucking place to put the allen wrenches!
I'd never had a 1/2" drive before this. Makes me feel like a man to use it.

I bought this kit. It's great. I'd challenge your "it's no Snap-on" claim because, unless you turn wrenches for a living, there is no reason to spend the additional money. Craftsman's guarantee is the same (no receipt, no questions).

I've got lots of Craftsman and have used their waranty with success multiple times so nothing bad to say there.
But so many 12 point sockets......blech.

Yeah, I knew the warranty was there. Snapon stuff is really nice for some things. The teeth on their ratchets are alot smaller, for instance, but who can afford it?

This! I have the same set and was like uhhh... Where do the allen wrenches go. Thinking there's some hidden slot for them. Nope.
Also the top piece with the twist lock kinda sucks then the flap opens just enough for the wrenches to slide out.

I have a couple of sets, I just love that anytime I break something in the set i can just take it to sears to get a free replacements.
My father in law left a rachet in the back of his pick up for a while , its rusted solid, he took it to sears and got a brand new one.

For $100, I'd go for it. My strategy is to buy Craftsman for stuff I use a lot, cheap Chinese or Lowes / Home Depot store brand for stuff I rarely use, and I buy Snap-On only after I've broken the equivalent Craftsman tool at least twice.
The only thing I see is that the set has no box wrenches. I'd recommend a Craftsman or better set in a roll. I like JH Williams personally - they are Snap-On's "industrial" brand, so you get the quality and interesting features, but don't have to pay for the name.

Good strategy. The fixed wrenches do have boxed ends, but I'd probably swap them out for some ratcheting boxed end wrenches I got for Christmas. Those things are boss.

Oops, I see them now. Time to get my eyeglasses prescription updated...
+1 on ratcheting box wrenches. Those are fantastic.

One of those inventions that probably should have come around 50 years ago. Immensely helpful.

I use Craftsman a ton. I never have had anything break from them once. While I don't have that set, they make so many similar sets I'm sure I've got almost the same thing. If you're not doing it professionally I see no issue. Hell I do it professionally and they work just as well as Snap-on, Mac, or any of the others. Would I love to have a box full of S-O tools? Sure. Do I honestly care? Not at all. Long as it does what I ask it to it's a good tool in my book.

I have basically a larger version of this set. more wrenches, probably the same sockets.
Mine came lose tho not in a carrying case, which is fine because it's all loaded into my garage tool boxes. I've been using my Craftsmen "mechanic tool set" around 10 years now, I've broken bolts with them but I've never broken a tool. Like everyone else, I'm a DIY guy and a work on my old muscle car guy. they've all done well, and I've even had to hit the rachets with a rubber mallet to get bolts moving before (I know i shouldn't but in the driveway sometime's you do what you gotta do!)
They've been great - I recommend Craftsman to everyone.
IF your alan wrenches come in a plastic re-sealable envelope like mine did, for the love of god keep them in there. I did and it has saved so much frustration.
