"K-Roll-PorscheTamer" (k-roll390)

I found this old picture of a Euro 944, with a single mirror. I think it looks awesome with some kinda "vintage" and asymmetric look to it.
I'm actually quite lost on this because I've never heard or seen of a 944 with a single mirror ever; these are the only pictures s such.
What do you think Oppo?

There is a special place in hell for the person that came up with single side mirror cars. I have and always will hate them.

I quite like them, and how having a passenger side mirror was an optional extra. I don't think whoever came up with it deserves any "special place in hell" at all. I also find the passenger side mirror in my 944 useless, no matter how much I adjust it, it never seems to feel right, and I end up just looking behind myself.

Also looks like he has a question. Like: "Excuse me... Did any'all see where my piston rings went?"

My car only has a driver's mirror and I do not care for it.

I've had the "opportunity" to drive a car without a passenger side mirror (assholes who can't park, thanks), and multiple occasions where I've loaded up the back of my SUV and can't see out using the center mirror. I find it much harder to do without the passenger side mirror.

Late 60's GM muscle. Any one of them I had at one point. These are not mine but show the lack of passenger mirror.

I'm on my second ancient, rusting, slow Toyota Tercel, and neither has a passenger side mirror. I love it. It's unique, and the rear visibility in the car is so good I don't find myself missing it much. Also, it has just as many rear view mirrors as Crockett's Testarossa.

I find the passenger side mirror very effective for towing and maneuvering in parking lots. I just believe a car company should care more about the symmetry of their car design than the greedy bean counters who want to save 30 bucks to install a mirror.

I think you missed the part where I said it was an optional extra. If some people didn't want it, they didn't get it. If people wanted to pay extra then so be it.But I don't believe it was about "bean counters".

Well, it's certainly cleaner, at least on that side. I'm old enough to remember the days when right side views were almost completely optional. Having a right side view was a selling point, and gave the impression that the cars were more luxurious or sportier. There can certainly be beauty in asymmetry, and with cars being so damned symmetrical these days, it's a nice change (think Nissan Cube, even though I don't care for it). As for specific Porsche history, I can't help you. I would have thought that dual side views would have been standard all along.

The Montego only has a driver's side mirror. You get used to having just one, and you turn your head when going to the right.
After my first drive in it, it really wasn't a big deal.

The 928 also started out with one mirror, at least in Europe.
Personally, I like seeing what's behind me. I'd keep both mirrors.

I saw it. I just don't think an owner should have to pay for the convenience of a mirror. Maybe it could be an optional delete feature but comes standard. If you could not tell yet this is one of my biggest automotive pet peeves.

914 Only 1 fuck given. To have a passenger mirror was an option. oddly enough all 914 came with the bracket in the passenger door. Just have to drill out 2 holes and boom.

My '71 Chevelle only has the driver's side mirror, and honestly I don't even realize the other one isn't there after a moment driving. The rear-view is big enough, and visibility so good, that you really don't need it.
Visibility in a 944 may not be a good but from driving my friend's a couple times I think you could get away without the passenger's mirror without being inconvenienced.
In any case, when all else fails, you can always take a quick glance over the shoulder...
