Driver's side
Passenger side
None evident on rear tires. Looking at it again there's some strong wear on the outer shoulder compared to the rest of the tire. Could be alignment I suppose. Don't think it's tire pressure as his car has digital pressure readouts and he tends to keep them at the right psi.
Vehicle is a Cayenne Diesel on its original tires with ~30k miles on them. Tread depth is still above wear bars.

your dad heavy on the speed going into corners? And that outer tread depth is barely above the wear bars in the top pic

Alignment. Looks like positive camber. Wont necessarily pull, but very uneven wear. Look at the rest of the suspension for work bushings on that corner, then inspect the other side as well.
Is it all the way around the tire or just in one spot? If it's only one spot, it could have been from locking up the breaks.
Also, tread may not be at the wear bars yet, but that tire is done. Is this car AWD?

Guys at work Cayennes eat tires. Usually the toe setting will cause the rear inner shoulders to wear before 30k...you may want to check that and you're probably due for new tires anyhow.

I think you might have something there. My old Mazdaspeed 6's stock alignment setting was a bit of positive camber, and to make things worse the camber wasn't adjustable from the factory. I fixed it by lowering the car and adding camber kits. But before I did, I got a lot of tire wear on my outer tread blocks.
I'm going to assume that the car is awd since he said it's a Cayenne Diesel. Which appears to have adjustable camber . So I agree with you, probably needs an alignment, particularly in the camber department.

If the car is all wheel drive, you should really replace all 4 tires at the same time. Sucks if a couple are still "good" but depending on the age of the car, it may be time for new tires anyway.

Oh yeah, that too.

My mom's Kia Sedona has wear patterns like this. I think it's from taking corners too quickly and everyone in my family is guilty of this. But my mom always replaces one tyre at a time which I always get on her for.

I had crappy unintentional camber and it wore the outside of the tire really fast. the cracks are weird and I would think something else than alignment but i'm just a guy at a computer so i could be wrong

even if its positive camber, the tires shouldn't be chunking like that.....i can see that happening if he's actually going over a lot of rough gravel

I think this might be it. He has a tendency to clip corners, so to compensate he turns really, really late, and the front end really pushes.

Yep, that's practically how how we drive the van. It takes a toll on your tyres, especially if the tread isn't very deep.

Could be feathering from bad alignment. When was it last checked?
