Does anyone here know anything about food grade container sealing equipment? I need one for a small business I've started but not really sure where I need to start looking.

food grade
Be honest, this is actually "pot-grade", isn't it.

Don't know much about them but look at bass pro shops or cabelas or a big sporting goods store.
Also check for restaurant supply warehouse in your area.

I know my mom has a vacuum sealer, its pretty common. Hers is a Food Saver I think, but of course there are commercial versions.

It's probably best to wait until you grow enough to have a Colorado subsidiary.

No, I need something larger. Low end commercial grade.

I'm not messing with it at all until the Fed clears it. Not worth the financial risk.

I'm not sure exactly how one would package hummus, but you should be able to find everything you need here . Maybe something like the ' ARY VacMaster VP112A Chamber Vacuum Sealer '?

"Does anyone here know anything about food grade container sealing equipment?"
Do you mean like tupperware?
Or saranwrap?

You are going to be hard pressed to beat a used industrial-system off ebay for cost/performance. There must be more dedicated sites for used food-prep equipment, but I can't claim to be familiar with them.
I wouldn't be surprised if amazon has something suitable either.

I've had a couple of ideas, like sealing it up like the top of a boba container, but that might work too.

I found a couple of things on Alibaba, but I'm not sure I trust them not to break down immediately.

Well, if it is to be sold fresh versatainers might be a nice choice, since they are reusable and microwave/dishwasher/freezer safe they are popular with customers (if you tell them). But these would not be sealed like commercial hummus tubs. Still, put a custom sticker on top and you'd have a nice looking product!

On a more serious note, I suggested checking Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=lp_10907…
I have no idea what you need, but they have more expensive sealing equipment like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Pack-LA-46…
http://www.amazon.com/Berkel-550A-Va…
http://www.amazon.com/Minipack-MVS-5…
http://www.amazon.com/SealerSales-TC…
http://www.amazon.com/Fleetwood-Skyf…
http://www.amazon.com/VacMaster-VP32…
But it seems you can go for something for under $1000 like this:
http://www.amazon.com/VacMaster-Cham…
So what you get depends on the type of sealing and container you want to seal... and how much money you want to spend.
And I believe the machine isn't "food grade" per se. It's the supplies you use with the machine that need to be food grade.

Go to Packaging Digest magazine, you can wrangle a free subscription, and start searching. you might even want to look for contract packagers, who will fill & seal for you, for a fee, that spares you the initial capital.
If you tell me the type of container you are looking to use, I can probably find out who makes them and connect you. I work in personal care packaging, there is not a lot of crossover but I should be able to figure something out. If you are buying from a company, ask them.
A previous commenter mentioned used equipment off of eBay, that might work, there are also companies that run auctions for used equipment after a plant closes. I would look there as well.

I've got to build up volume first, but I will keep that in mind. Thanks! Do you have a way to get in touch with you that you can put on here?
