Makes me think of the old JDM Honda Oddyssey that i once drove. It has an Eco Button, that basically a button that won't let you rev past 2500 rpm. That's simply idiotic. Maybe that's why i prefer Nissan Elgrand or Toyota Alphard for my choice of luxury people carrier.

The 2012-present North American Civic has this. It just changes the throttle response and gives the whole car somewhat of a numb feel. I used to have a 2012 Civic EX Coupe. It actually worked for city driving, but made the fuel economy worse during highway driving.

Oh that's what it does. I had a rental dodge caravan with that and was simply wondering what it was for.

Most new cars have this. My wife's X1 and my dads M235i have an Eco mode. It limits boost and throttle response on their cars. My Abarth defaults to eco mode, and you have to push the sport button to get all the power which is really stupid.

It makes it seem like flowers will be blooming on every side of you as you drive by.

The Lexus CT has an Eco mode that's truly idiotic. Why? Because it detunes an already glacially slow car to the point where you have to accelerate harder to keep up in traffic. CT owners I've spoken to tell me they get their worst mileage in Eco mode. The best setting is, of course, sport.

But....
I love the CT200H. I kinda wish it comes with the same hybrid in Toyota Crown, where the hybrid system is used to make moar power.

We had one like that too, but for some reason it just kept slamming the transmission back two gears on hills and shifting at redline...is this the American definition of "Eco"?

Well, all my car has none of them.
Now i wonder when mrs aya get her Maserati. I guess i'll leave it at sport all day if it comes with eco mode. And who the hell thinks Maserati needs eco mode?

I'm confused as to why they thought an Abarth needed an eco mode.

Yeah, it's only 1.4L. If I cruise it I can get up to 36 mpg highway. If I bang on it I'll get it down to 28 city. I average about 30 mpg. Their weird MultiAir head does a good job at increasing fuel economy even when you drive hard.

The Dodge Caravan / Chrisler T&C / VW Routan Eco mode adjusts the shift points of the transmission. It won't downshift as readily and will upshift at a moments notice. I only even think of using it with cruise control.

Awesome! Thanks!
In our Routan anyways it is much more noticeable during city driving.

A) You're quite welcome.
B) This explains why I noticed no difference as my driving consisted of getting on the freeway, cruising at about 75mph, hitting the eco button, then getting off the freeway and making two left turns before we swapped drivers. hahah.
