It begs the question as to what this Wrangler could be capable of if we put actual off-road tires on it.

I like Jeeps, but seriously, my 72 Ford LTD went up much worse.

What model year is this Wrangler? Looks like a fun little road.

1990. It's a service road that runs along a set of power lines, almost its full length is accessible to the public except for a small stretch as you near the power station. It's really the only offroading on the island unless you want to spring the $$ for a beach permit.

Looks like the Jeep's biggest drawback is not having locking diffs. Though proper tires would help a lot too.

No. Just out of sight beyond the truck is the other end of the trail where it connects to a main road.

The Jeep's diffs are permanently locked... it's called a live axle.

Um.... not quite. There is still a differential inside the pumpkin, and is designed so that the wheels can spin independently. Otherwise when making turns, the rear tires would chatter like crazy (and wear your tires badly). That's why they make limited slip differentials for performance cars, and lockers for off-road vehicles like Jeeps.

It's possible to weld an open diff (no limited slip or locking ability) to make it permanently locked, but again, it's absolutely impractical on a street vehicle.
