My dad just ordered one from Amazon... It's called the GS8000L. If it's good, I'll probably snag one too. It does the job, according to the few reviews I've read, but battery life is apparently almost nonexistant if you want to run on battery alone when the car's parked. Accepts up to 32 GB microSD. Just thought I'd spread the word for EASY access to a dash cam that you would otherwise pay $200 for a legit name brand one. Rather have this than nothing in times you need it the most.

I've been thinking about getting one of these myself. Having been involved with legal-hoo-hah, all I can say is had I had dash cam, I could have maybe saved myself a lot of grief...

My dash cam was not $200, nor is it a name brand one, but there are a few things I would suggest:

1) get something as low profile as possible, you don't need to see it, so something small that fits behind the mirror or so is best

2) get a "weatherproof" SD card. Samsung makes one, and seeing as it will spend most of it's time in a car where temperatures can vary greatly, it's good to have the best possible card. You also don't want your videos getting corrupt.

3) if you're going to invest in a dash cam, also invest in some software to chop down and render out smaller versions of the footage. I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again, most corporate emails accept only small file sizes. Way smaller than footage straight off the dash cam. You need to be prepared to cut the footage up to what the relevant footage is (10-15 seconds prior to the accident and the accident), and save it to a file size small enough to upload and email very quickly.

My dash cam with card cost about $90. The thing to remember is that you can easily budget the money for this. A couple video games? A few movies? Eating out for a few days? You can find the money needed to do this properly, and in the event you do need the footage that's on it, it will have paid for itself in that instant. It's just a one-time chunk of change that you can consider an insurance policy.

I have the Papago GS110. Its not perfect, but it gets the job done. It has a good viewing angle, and it powers on/off with the car which is what I wanted. Its compact as well and does not get in the way of visibility.
