Happy New Year Oppo!

My dad has an opportunity to get a free Kia something... with no title. Which he'd give to me. I am not completely sure what model it is (Rio maybe?), nor the year. So I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight, and see if this thing may be worth the time and effort to get legal. Or I'd be better off getting it and unloading it for scrap.

Well... Upon further CSI style enhancements and comparisons, I'd say you are correct good sir. Thanks for the keen eye! So now to find out if the free untitled vehicle is this Spark, or if it in fact a yet to be seen Kia something.

Brakes, battery and exhaust should be nbd. Title shouldn't be a huge deal if you do your research. Why would you say no to a free running car? Worst case senario you get to hoon it in a field until it dies and then sell it for scrap.

I would stay away.

Unless you know the people involved, what this looks like to me is NOT a car with no title, it's a car with a title in SOMEONE ELSE'S name. Now, there are sometimes proper procedures to go though for retitling an abandoned vehicle, or applying for a new title, but I'd definitely make sure that the car isn't stolen or has any liens on it first.

Why would the exhaust have holes on a pretty much new car? Seems fishy IMO.

Unless you can get at least a bill of sale sign by the title holder, I think you're boned. You can't even junk a car without a title.

I assume this is sitting at the sister-in-laws house, abandoned after a divorce? She'd have to get a title in her name. There probably is a way for her to do that (nonpayment of storage, etc), but without something from the title holder, you don't want it.
