The glory days of Jalopnik - Ray Wert was still at the helm dragoning every exhaust pipe he could find, the current commenting system was called 5.0 - 5.no if you were a fan of the 4.0 system that was replaced, Comment of the Day happened every day and there were prizes - $kaycog posted scantily-clad ladies posing with a relevant vehicle and gamecat posted beer, there were no sub-blogs, you could direct message people, and commenters could be starred. Getting starred meant meeting Wert and Hardibro behind the McDonald's off Exit 6 of the New Jersey Turnpike, but it was worth the intestinal distress. Starred commenters were featured, held up as a shining example of the forum and the art of conversation. Their posts were at the top of the comments page, guaranteed to get the most attention. If you weren't starred, you were nobody - you didn't exist.

That's when I started reading, long before creating an account. I really miss the story bar on the left side, never had more than one tab of Jalopnik open, read a story on the right then scroll to the next story on the left, then open it on the right to read it.

THIS IS WHY I'VE BEEN ASKING FOR. Kinja in its current form isn't terrible, but it would be waaaay better if I didn't have to open a billion tabs or click back to the FP every time I wanted to read another article.
