Worth it? I am getting H2 for sure, and will be picking up a Xbone instead of getting a copy for my 360. Just contemplating getting the FM5 bundle or just a regular Xbone ($100 difference gets the kinect + FM5). I was never too impressed with the car list for FM5, just wondering if its worth the extra cash?

I've been having a lot of fun with it. It has issues - the UI, most notably - but the driving physics are my favourite of any Forza game. If you can find a relatively cheap used copy, then I'd say go for it.

It's very good, but you can easily tell it was rushed. So long as you can look past the lower quality parts, it's very much worth the time and money.

Do you need the kinect for it to work properly, or did they end up doing away with that?

Do you use Kinect with yours?

Nope. My Kinect was broken out of the box. It's still in warranty, but I just can't work up the will to actually send it in for repair. The only feature I ever really miss is the 'Record That' thing.

I dont own a One, but I've played probably 8-10 hours of Forza 5.

I think you have valid concerns about the car list, however I will say that the physics have taken "the next step." It feels significantly better than Forza 4 IMHO. More nuanced.

It also lets you do cross manufacturer engine swaps which, to my knowledge has never been done in a game before. That's right, there's an option to stick a 350cid V-8 into an RX-7 if you want (or a 240sx, or a bunch of cars.)

The only reason i haven't already bought a one + F5 is because of weird compatibility issues with my xbox360 wheel and pedals which are not compatible with Xbox One. It's...complicated.

That said, i think the kinect is a POS and there's no way i'd want that thing watching me all the time.

No kinect needed.

Just wondering if game play was really that much more involved with it.

On Amazon I have a One and Forza 5 in my cart, pondering pulling the trigger. The One from a non-amazon seller is $370 shipped, and they have Forza 5 listed for $39 now. I don't want or need the Kinect.

Getting FM5 seems to depend on whether or not you will use the Kinect.

I'm a massive Kinect supporter, it's the best way to use the console and it has converted me to voice commands so I say buy it but I do play Kinect games so I guess I'm not the best person to be asking, since I'm biased.

However when it comes to FM5 I am the best person to ask since I know that game inside out.

It's an excellent game but it is the weakest in the Forza franchise. The car count isn't a problem as it has such great variety but where is does feel light is the tracks. There are less than 20 tracks with very few alternative layouts as a result Career mode becomes repetitive. The driving though is so, so good. It's by far and away my favourite driving model as it manages to be both a Sim and Fun.

So should you get it. No. Horizon 2 is going to last you a while and then after that you have The Crew and Project Cars. So by the time you are done with all those games 12 months will have passed and FM6 will be out. However if you can get a good deal on it then yeah go for it.

As to what Xbox One you should get it really depends on your Kinect usage. Will you say "Xbox On" when you come home? Will it be your media hub? Do you plan to excersise at home? Don't buy a Kinect if you won't use it as that $100 could be used to buy games.

I would tend to say no. but then again... maybe. I hate the idea that it's always on, but it may be cool for certain games. maybe it can be a thing I add on down the line.
