Today was a blast. I drove someone else's Miata (Thanks a million Tom!)
I mostly wanted to drive it today so I could get some serious practice driving a fast car. Boy did I get that practice, and by the end of the day I was handling it damn well. I was about 2 seconds off the owner's times in the morning, and as close as half a second to him in the afternoon, but I love-tapped two cones. My best clean run in the afternoon was 2 seconds off him, and he's a freakishly good driver. He usually posts the best times of the day, so I feel fantastic about how I drove today.
Two videos to share for now, more when I edit them. First: DORRIIIIIIFFFTTOOOOO! Oppo, I can haz oppo. This felt awesome even if it was dumb. Skip to 34 seconds for the drift.
Next, my fastest time with the aforementioned cones. I actually thought I only hit one in the slalom, but I tapped one shortly after the start. One bad word at the end, I left it in there because I think it's hilarious: it was a seriously good time but I knew I hit a cone right at the end.
Unfortunately I couldn't improve. Last run the tires had gotten way too hot so it was all over the place. I was literally fighting the thing, which was a blast but hardly fast.
Freaking Miatas man...so much damn fun.
I have one more video I'd like to make showing my runs side by side with the owner of the car. He took me around as a passenger and it made a huge difference in my times. Anyone have any video editing software recommendations? Free is preferred, but I'd pay a little money for something good. I just want to sync two videos and display them side by side (top bottom?)

Nice runs. That drift looked perfectly executed.
Have you even SEEN my track day post?!

hitfilm express is free. I haven't really adjusted to how quickly the Miata changes direction either and end up doing a lot of correction on my steering. I rode with the fastest guy at my autocross in my Miata and he is like 5 seconds faster than me in his and ours are very similar build and same class. Any thoughts I had that it was his car that was faster changed when I saw the results. His son drove his car as well and he was 5 seconds faster than both of us. One cool tip he had for both of us was some of the gates that were turns in other cars were straight shots in our cars if we set them up right.

I have not seen your track day post.
The drift originally was an 'oh shit I'm going sideways' moment. For a second I thought 'I should brake', then I just went 'nah fuck it I got this' and drove away.
