Am I doing it right? I could never own one of these thanks to the fact that the entire head is effectively a wear item thanks to poorly designed plastic timing chain guides. Beautiful cars though. If they had been sold in this country with the 3.0-liter six I have in my E39, well, I wouldn't have an E39 right now.

If you get a 95 e38 it comes with the m60b40 which has duplex timing chains and no guide issues. 96 to 9/98 had the M62B44 which didn't really have guide problems. The M62TUB44 had vanos which kinda screwed up and resulted in jumped timing and shattered guides. I have a 190K mile non vanos e38 and still runs like a pissed off distance runner.

I'd love me a Bangle-era early E65.
