I found this, and had a little cry. WHY?!

Ewwwww! If you're going to throw out the original engine, at least replace it with a 2JZ-GE (I feel like a turbo would just be wrong.)

Oh God NO. I remember seeing this at NAIAS a few years ago. My heart ached for quite a while.

I would even go as far as saying 1GZ-FE. But EV or turbo, utter blasphemy.

Would you rather see it sitting as a rusting shell or as an electric vehicle?

I'd rather see it as a fully restored vehicle, something they were fully capable of doing.

E-Type's are less rare!

I hope that the car was brought back from either a crash, or the engine had some catastrophic failure.
I'm all for EV conversions, but only as long as the car is not in running condition beforehand.

These are rare too. And they ruined them!

I'm not okay with it either. I mean, who do they think they are? What gives them the right to defile fantastic and rare vehicles?

Those are still being produced by Shelby American as continuation cars.

Well, a guy had five of these that were rusty bare shells, the fact that one of them was given a new life that isn't the crusher should be commended.

He could've at least kept the exterior original, those wheels in a 1960's car that sleek and beautiful is just wrong.

I'm going to get some shit for this, but I kinda like it. WAIT. I love the 2000 GT, and while yes, those wheels are terrible and the livery isn't to die for, I think it's pretty cool to see a 2000 GT brought back from the dead with some interesting modern tech. Nobody seems to shoot blood from their eyes at Teslas, so why is this such a hate crime to gear heads? I know the car has a legacy (sort of) and it would be better to see a Straight Six in there, but this is neat. I think it's a cool way to showcase what Toyota is capable of. Take their first "Supercar" and give it a high tech sort of drive train. If you do some reading about it, it sounds like they tried to keep to the nostalgia of the original without destroying it. Obviously its a different car now, but you get the point, they didn't change up the body and the interior layout is the same, it even uses the original key. There ARE still plenty of originals for me to masturbate to (one's my wallpaper), so can we as enthusiasts not see the engineering interest in such a car?

I'm really not a rim guy, personally it looks fine like that. But considering how large the brakes look to be, combined with what I'm assuming to be non-stock axles for the electric drive, I really doubt the stock wheels would fit.

And here, we see the juxtaposition between a beautiful old Toyota and modern Toyota's "eco ALL the things" corporate philosophy. And now I'm sad....
