If they retire the A-10, the infantry is fucked. I'm a Marine with 3 combat deployments to Helmand Province and this aircraft was our fucking guardian angel. Especially on my second deployment during the spring/summer of 2010. There's not a more comforting feeling during a TIC then that VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV sound fucking up tree lines. I've had every type of fixed and rotary aircraft over head providing CAS during TICs and nothing compares to this aircraft. Unlike the majority of aircraft, the second this beast checks on station, the firefight suddenly comes to an abrupt end.....That's called respect, which I believe translates to "fear" in Pashtu and Dari if I'm not mistaken.

Best part aside from the GAU-8... is that great survivability factor. Pilot sits in the titanium armored "tub" and the 'craft has triple redundancy with manual controls. Epic.
