...and I pretty much concur with everything Andrew P. Collins wrote about it here:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

...except maybe for the dislike of the shifter. It shifts the gears as you'd expect an automatic to and doesn't really look out of place in the interior. You shift and forget about it.

As-Driven Specs: V6, 4x4, Long Box, Black.

MY memorable gripe was with the buttons on the lower center stack. After purposefully hitting the cargo light button, I wasn't sure if it worked. The buttons just have painted symbols, so no lit symbol indicates its on. Plus, the button springs right back into position after you press it, instead of staying down, so there's really no indication you did anything. Didn't look at the cluster though, maybe there was an indication there. I suppose in a dark garage, or at night, it would be pretty obvious whether or not the light was on #TurnAroundAndOpenYourDamnEyes.

But really, if THAT'S the worst thing I have to say about it...

Overall, the truck was great - an amazing improvement in all areas over the '86 S-10 I had in High School. Steering wheel felt great to my Nancy Boy hands, acceleration was fine, turning and parking were definitely better than the full size trucks and Dakota I've driven, it was remarkably silent inside. The build quality and materials were much better than I expected. Even better than the Sierra I sat in - that was a Hard Plastic Paradise.

The test drive wasn't as long or as involved as AP Collins', but ask me any questions about it. Maybe my memory and the brochure I took can answer. Enjoy more pictures!

My least favorite part of the styling is how the window frame gradually bends upwards. Wish it were flat.

That's actually one of my favorite bits. :x

I'm glad I took the time to find the Tundra photos because now I guess they're not as terribly similar as I thought. I mean, they're both trucks I guess :D

Isn't it called the Hofmeister Kink? I've been seeing it on a lot of new vehicles. 2015 F-150, Current Silverado/Sierra, 2015 Mustang even has its take on it. I think it works better on the Colorado.

Didn't know that's what it was called. Neat fact.

I don't mind it as much on those 2 larger trucks because it looks much less pronounced. Instead of looking like it runs the entire length of the rear set of doors it just effects the tip of the glass.

Is the engine really as untrucklike as AP said? Have you driven a truck with the new 4.3 to compare?

What was the sticker price?

Just above 36k I think. And it had several options too. If you're willing to sacrifice electric doodads and don't need anything other than 4x4, you could get it much lower. That said, their advertised "Starting Prices" are completely unrealistic to what people are going to want. With taxes and at least one must have option on a bare bones vehicle, I don't think you're getting off that lot for less than 28k. Strangely, their Build & Price site won't show you anything other than a Crew Cab long Box, so I guess configure a Colorado on Chevy's site and add 1000 dollars to get a rough estimate of the Canyon price?

I've borrowed my parent's '03 Silverado extended cab, long box diesel several times, and it was definitely more car-like than that, but the way the engine shifted and behaved while driving it seemed truck like to me, just refined. If Car-like is 0 and Truck-like is 100, this was 70. Maybe even 65. I have not driven the new 4.3.

I hadn't thought to compare its styling to the Tundra, but I do see some general similarities. I like Tundra's tail lamps better, but its grille - gah.

The reason I asked, is that AP said the 3.6 is a bit more of a top end performer than low end. A truck engine should be low end, which the 4.3 is.

A crew cab long box is what I'd want. I can do without 4wd and most of the do-dads though. I'm curious to see what the diesel costs, when they come out next year.

How did the throttle response feel?

Maybe just a tiny bit higher end.

Good, not amazing. Didn't feel like it was struggling at all, though I was just driving it in suburban street traffic. Accelerating from a stop in my v8 Dakota feels a tad labored, not so in this.
