That's what did me in. I rode in a lot of different cars to see what I wanted and I didn't expect a Miata to be impressive after riding in a C5 Vette and a WRX and was completely blown away and knew I had to have one.

I've done runs in this one before and a Boxster S. It certainly doesn't help my desires for a Corvette...

Corvettes are big and more at home on full-blown road courses. An autocross course is too small for it to really stretch its legs. I'd wager the BR-Z also outperforms many Corvettes at autocross, though I wonder how it compares to the Miata.

WRX getting bested is...surprising.

I don't know if the wrx I rode in was slower, I was just surprised at the Miatas performance in comparison. The WRX I rode in was a rallycross car though.
