It Was Dark Out

Agrajag needed to get gas. He slowly and cautiously backed out of his driveway. Approaching the street, he paused to check for traffic. A look to the right. All was clear. As his head returned to center and began the rotation to the left, he coughed. A simple cough. A cough brought upon by the seasonal changes. He caught only a brief glimpse of it as it glistened in the star light. It was a loog.

It's trajectory promised impact with the door panel. Panicked he turned on the interior lights, but with their feeble light output was unable to locate the impact zone.Utilizing a stash of napkins procured from a fine eating establishment, he wiped the area where he believed the loogie had landed. Satisfied, but not entirely sure the clean up was successful, he carried on his way.

A few miles down the road and it was all but forgotten. He pulled into the incredibly well lit gas station, opened his door not but a few inches and paused.

Flocks of birds scattered from the trees. Babies cried. A train derailed in Utah. A tumbleweed stopped in it tracks and returned whence it came.

There it was. Revealed by the miniature sun that is a gas station at night. It had managed to land in the one spot he had not cleaned. Mildly impressed by the volume of mucus, he knew clean up would require more than just napkins. From the door cubby he grabbed some baby wipes, and set about sanitizing his door.
