Everyone was pretty much packing up when we got there, with maybe a dozen cars of various makes/models. A nice, older Rolls Royce, a mid 60's Eldorado that had seen better days, A few Corvettes and a Cobra or two. My son really liked this Maserati. The license plate read 3.14 Sano. It's a bit cryptic, but a good fit for the car.

I love Gran Turismos... but someone told me they were early paddle shifter. Idk, I'd probably stay away from owning one just to be on the safe side.

That's a Maserati Coupé, the GranTurismo's predecessor. It was offered with a manual.
Although, the pictured car looks like a GranSport (upgraded Coupé, kind of like an M3 to the 3 series), which I think was paddle shift only.

3.14 is pi. Guy's probably a mathematician.
Any chance this was in Redmond, WA? I swear I saw that plate before

Oh snap! My bad! I meant Coupé. Thanks for correcting me!

we all need to buy one of these when the price falls to $19K

Dude, yes.
It won't be long now.

I would even buy the F1 version if it falls to $8K. Then I'd have money to fix F1 when it has issues.

I'd like to think that I would never buy an F1 version, but who am I kidding, I'd totally buy one.

especially a very cheap. You could buy it and keep it for a year, crossing your fingers the whole time that there will be no issue. If you sell it before F1 falls apart then you feel like a genius.

You really would have to pull a Doug DeMuro dine 'n dash with one of those cars.

"hey Carmax, sorry the F1 stopped working. Now pay $25K to have it fixed. Thanks"

I wonder if Carmax has ever shelled out a warranied repair that cost more than the vehicle was worth.

I bet it has happened. They've sold higher mileage cars with fancy engines and or transmissions. If the customer bought a multi year warranty then the car could depreciate to the point where the repair is more than the value of the car.

You're probably right.
Carmax is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

I think they can afford to do it because they always come out ahead overall. People spend a lot of money buying warranties for cars that don't have problems. It's basically like a life insurance. They know some of the cars will die before the term is up. But most of them won't.
