First off what are your go-to first mods? And do you find yourself shopping for mods before you even said new vehicle, or base the new vehicle off the mod-ability and aftermarket ability? Wait- yeah that just became a triple.
So far I'm in a toss up between the FoST* and Abarth. Either way it looks like I'll be throwing handfulls of money at either Cobb or 500Madness. I'm a ways away from buying (unless the Sebring blows up next week or catches on fire - which I'll be really pissed off about because I just had the headlights and exhaust finished). But for either I've lined up intakes, exhaust (FoST-full, Abby-tips), catch cans, front mount intercoolers, programmers and whiskey.. wait no.. that's what I'm drinking. Turbo blankets!
*I like the FiST, I really do. But if I'm going small I'm going Abarth. If I'm going for power I'm going FoST.

If you're buying new, just drive it for 2-3 months. Yes, you can—and probably should—shop for cars based on the aftermarket availability, but it's probably best to wait it out and see what you want to change on the car to make it that much more perfect to you.
Unless what makes cars perfect for you is scissor doors. In which case, how did you sign the purchase agreement with a straight jacket on?

I agree. There's something about the customization that appeals to me. It's taking a factory cookie cutter creation and making it YOURS.
The monstrosity scene above is clickbate. I couldn't bring myself to doing that to such a lovely car (what was a lovely car at one point but to each their own)

Keep in mind Fiat reliability isn't the greatest...so modding that sucker is rolling the dice. I would check the owner forums on both cars and see what people are saying about potential tune issues.

Don't worry, I assumed as such, considering the post content.

I've been modding a Chrysler for the past few years.
I went to change my oil and severed my hood release cable. Unfortunately I know the woes too well.
But at the same time I only plan on looking at bolt ons if that. The engine, turbo, etc will stay stock.

In that case get the Abarth for no other reason than Oppo already has enough ST owners. :)

Of the Fiat Abarth and Ford Fiesta ST. I'm definitely decided on the Fiesta.
The two cars below are a regular Fiat 500 (not Abarth but size and style are pretty much it really) and a Fiesta ST (the Fiat belongs to the mother of the guy who owns the Fiesta).
Looks and comfort win it for me in the Ford. The Fiat just doesn't feel right.

that picture says a lot. Unfortunately I haven't seen a FiST available in my area in a while.
There's a new '14 Abarth convertible, gray with the blackout package for ~21k. Through some contacts I suspect I can get it out of there south of $18k.
The FiST does look better when it comes to comparison. Dammit Oppo stop making this difficult

Plus you can get the 500's chassis with a proper boot and back seats for less money as a Panda. /not biased
That reminds me that they really need to build a panda abarth.
