Bit tricky because of the punched out bit to fit the hydraulic fluid reservoir, but all finished now :) just waiting for the primer to dry so I can add a topcoat then I'll bolt everything back together :) then I've just got the other side to do (and I haven't even looked at the rear suspension mounts yet...)

Oh, and the other thing. The guys who brought this up bought the BMW from me. It's currently being hooned around East Sussex :) glad at that outcome

Reminds me of what I ought to be doing this weekend, only more French and newer. Patchwork quilt welding horror.

'Patchwork quilt welding' - I like that :)

I'm going to try to do well what a previous owner did poorly. The area behind the door on both sides, an area over the rear wheel, the tailgate, and about 6 places in the roof are all patched in pieces already with copious Bondo.

...which is not to mention the bizarre door post repair, the rust in the doors, the heater box rust, the in-process sill improvement I'm doing, the new floorboards...

You've done a boatload of work. Looks good. Question. Is the car worth it or are you doing it cause you can?

Define 'worth it'. From an economical perspective filling the fuel tank is pushing it. From an 'interesting car with potential' perspective however...

Not sure I am understanding what you ask, Mr. Duurtlang. I define "worth it", in this case, as is it worth the time and effort to preserve this car? Understand that I have no knowledge of whether that particular car has something that makes it special.

I apparently failed in making a joke. My point was that the work you invest in this vehicle won't be profitable from a $/hour point of view, but it might still result in an awesome car.

He got it for £250, I believe, and it'll almost certainly never be worth more than about £600... But the BX is, to a certain variety of enthusiast, an incredibly cool car. Hydropneumatic suspension, and that old 'long hatchback' profile that Citroen's always done so well. I mean, it has a lever that does this, for christ's sake!

Of BiTurbo's extensive collection, the BX is probably the car I'd most like to have a go in. Well, unless his sister's boyfriend's 106 GTi were on the table, anyway.

Yeah, this guy here totally missed it. Not necessarily your fault. Good point about it could result in an awesome car. Doing so much work on it yourself certainly can give a feeling of accomplishment.

It has been so long since they were sold here. They were/are amazing vehicles.

Thanks man :) it might be worth it, but I doubt it. That's not really a consideration I have to be honest. It's 170k miles and a bit faded (and a bit rusty), but it's a dirt cheap way to drive a really cool car :)

Jeez :S is there any of the original car left? How much have you done so far? Say as a percentage of total welding needed...
