The two most expensive used cars on Trademe (NZ's Ebay) at the moment make for an interesting "Compare and Contrast".
Both within a whisker of 600 large (NZD). Both black. Both fast. And that's about it for similarity.
In the Italian corner we have a demonstrator-miles 2014 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Sporting one of the world's great V12s, mounted at the proper end of the car, the F12 has the bonus of being one of Ferrari's better looking efforts of recent decades (though it's never going to be !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). Insanely fast, ridiculously comfortable, and more powerful than any normal person will ever need, the Fezza has had !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! since its launch. This particular one is fully loaded, with active everything, and carbon everything else, and comes in a desirable a not-red colour scheme, though with slightly tacky yellow detailing. And at 21% off list price, how could you go wrong?

In the Transatlantic corner, we have !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Not A Cozzie, THE Cozzie. The original #1 Eggenburger Texaco Group A Sierra RS Cosworth. A car so famous it has !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Lead vehicle of the all-conquering works Ford team in the 1988 European Touring car championship, this very car has been driven by everybody you've ever heard of in 80s touring car racing, and kicked the butt of the best BMW had to offer, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Fully restored and in better nick than it's ever been, it's a frequent flyer in the NZ historic racing scene since they finished the restoration. Admittedly, you can't use it on an actual road, it's probably not that fast in modern terms, and with no driver aids and a turbo the size of the planet, it'll do its best to kill you at every opportunity. But that's OK because you'll be too nervous of it's one-off historical artefact status to actually risk binning it anyway. And besides, TURBO!!!! TAMIYA!!!

So is it the calm, sensible option (and how often can a Ferrari be called that?) or the nutjob icon? Daily driver or trackday toy? 4 cyl or 12? Turbo or NA? All the nannies in the world, or 3 pedals and a wheel? Depreciation cliffdiver or appreciating icon that you can't use? The best car you will ever own or a tarted up repmobile? A 600k thoroughbred from a non-authorised dealer, or a 585k piece of history from a guy who can't find the caps lock button? Do you prefer to arrive comfortable, early, and in style or sideways in a cloud of smoke with a t errified grimace big grin on your face?
You decide...

It is pretty ridiculous. But it might even be realistic - this is one of the best known race cars of the 80s. I was a teenager back then, and the Sierra Cosworths hit the European touring car scene like the Countach had hit the supercar scene a decade earlier.
