Update to my adventures with malware

It still isn't fixed.

Which means I still can't play euro truck simulator or test drive. It also means that I have to use the slowest thing in existence (an iPad 2 that has less than 100mbs left of space on it) for school. Anyway does anyone know if the Dell Optiplex 755 has an HDMI port since I might be able to use one until my main desktop and laptop get fixed.

I'm pretty good at a lot of IT related skills but malware removal has never been my strong suit. This comes from a combination of never being responsible for it at work and having a keen eye not to get any at home.

I am not saying this to brag. The older I get the less time I have and the more apathetic I become. Also everywhere seems like it's a bad place to download from with the amount of ads on sites. So recently I downloaded some malware and have been using antivirus software that was previously well reviewed and apparently now receives 2 out of 5 donkey balls. It sucks getting rid of it and it just helps to affirm my belief that you either focus on never getting it or kill everything with fire and reinstall your OS.

SuperAntispyware and malewarebytes have not been able to remove it and it is running nearly as slow as the iPad. Also, do you think it could have been in the latest nvidia drivers since that was the last thing that was downloaded.

I only ever get malware from shady sites, like off the trail torrent sites or porn sites. If you avoid those and only download files from "trusted" people at your favorite torrent sites you should be fine.

The only reason I'd suspect that would be the source of the driver download but even still I doubt that. It could be very likely you downloaded it a while ago and only just now was noticeable.

It's a browser hijacker called trovi (similar to conduit) that has been a PITA. My laptop and desktop are both running much slower and it takes around 6 seconds to open a new tab. It really sucks.

Well I do not torrent things or watch porn so it can't be from those. Also the only things I have downloaded are games off of steam, Firefox, and norton so I have no clue where it came from.

You wont necessarily see it there or it could already be removed but could still be there.

change your default search engine, your home page, and remove the plugin if its there. Thats all there is to trovi honestly. Run defender offline (boot off cd) if you suspect more, but typically from what ive seen, theres nothing more to it.
