Should have rebelled when you had the chance.

But who wouldn't prefer the falcon? Haven't been keeping up with the news but there was talk of the 335kw SC Coyote going into it...

I'm rather looking forward to finding out exactly how much it'll cost hear. Scuttlebutt is that it'll be in the neighbourhood of £30,000... Which is better than it could've been, but still perhaps a mite too much. It'll have the segment pretty much all to itself, which could be a blessing or a curse, depending on whether people take to it at all. They're not exactly comparable, but if I were shopping for a brand new sports coupe, I'd probably opt for a GT86 at £25,000 over a Mustang. Of course, I'd never actually be in that position, as I doubt I'll ever buy a brand new car, but there you go.

In the Mustang? I've heard about it, but none of the Fordies I know have confirmed it.
I'm not a fan of the Falcon (shock!horror!), I've always been a Holden man. The Mustang would be the car that brings me back to the blue oval, if the price is right, and so far...it doesn't seem to be.

Britain ain't setting the prices, and the queen to us is a funny little lady stamped on our coins.
Our dollar is around 90c US, we're going to have no local production that needs to be 'protected' so why does a sub $40k US car cost $70k here? I could go and pick up an M235i for $10k more and probably have more fun in it.

Comparing US pre tax prices (they always quote them that way) with your actual prices?

Wait a minute here. In horsepower we trust a M235i in no way would be as fun as a Mustang. Poooooowwwwwweeeeerrrrr and now with a side of handling

Mustang GT Fastback is $32k. What's tax? 8%? That's still under 35k, lets add some options, still under $40k. My numbers still hold true, that's why I said SUB $40K CAR.

You get away extraordinarily lightly tax wise. If I was to buy such a car there'd be 23% VAT and a CO2 based vehicle registration tax which could be as much again.

And what would your starting car price be? I'm guessing the UK?

Ireland (they just have the VAT in the UK, not the VRT) and I've no idea at the moment. Just to take a guess, over there the starting price is expected to be something similar to a BMW320d which here costs about €41,000 with no options whatever. A Mustang would be more than that because it's petrol and so more VRT, so maybe €45,000. Depends if they seriously expect to sell many, in which case they would keep the price down, or expect to sell only to a few enthusiasts which is more likely. I'm guessing that a few will be sold as soon as they become available and having satisfied the early adopters sales will be very modest.
