And I don't mean to react in the way some might expect, perhaps for example something along the lines of "lol dem Jezzies gonna rant about men and beauty standards tropes all the men are teh lulz who needs them" but rather to take their side. The general reaction to this - or perhaps the very fact that it's considered newsworthy - disappoints and saddens me a little.
A brief rundown of what's contained in the link therein:
- she's a former covergirl for JET Magazine for one issue, which at the very least means OF COURSE she's good looking. Duh. Move alone guys.
- she's been arrested/detained for "disorderly conduct" which given the vagueness of what's been released could damn well mean near anything. It could be the equivalent of Neve Campbell's hissy fits and basically just a very public shouting match. It's not a big deal to anyone beyond any employer who would deny hiring someone for a minor marijuana possession charge. Move along guys.
- the one guy who said he would leave his S/O for bond money for her is especially disappointing, and I'm just going to leave it at that.
Honestly this has less to do with how hot she is and the general perverse fascination with mug shot photos. But I suppose that goes without saying.
Anyway, Jezzie-ish rant over, now that I got that off my chest I'll be more than happy to help return to our normal Oppo programming.
