30.3 mpg.

So far the Miata is $0.02 cheaper to fuel per mile than the Speed 3. That is roughly $240 saved per year. I only fill up the Speed 3 once a month now!

$240? That's a whole set of tires for you to destroy!

Yep! Or over two monthly payments.

Where was this taken? Also can't decide if I want to put those NB wheels on mine or not.

I wish that I could get a set of good tires for $240.... I'm looking at $600 for next years autocross tires for my little gay car. That being said, they are Hankook RS3 V2's in 225/50/15 for my 15x9" racing wheels. I hope I can get a set of Yokohama S Drives or BFG Sport Comp II's for a good price for my daily wheels. Then I need tires for my bike, and the tires on my Jeep are about 50%...

The photo was taken up at HWY 129/the Dragon/Deals Gap. I love the NB wheels. The previous owner put them on since the car came with steelies. They are also too light for me to bother with something else.

See, I am just going to slap on some decent all-seasons and call it a day.

I was going to guess East Coast somewhere. And yeah I like them because it would let me run a 15" wheel that I think looks better on a Miata, which also means way more tire choices. But they are like 3lbs heavier then the wheels on mine now. And I hate the idea of adding weight.

I can't do that. I had some old crappy all seasons on the Miata when I bought it. I can never go back. I enjoy embarassing assholes in M3's that think they are super cool drivers when we are in the twisties.

These wheels are 14"s. Here is a really handy chart off all the wheels.

I still hang with "faster" cars in the twisties, but I am trying to keep the running costs of the Miata as low as possible. Since it is my DD, decent all-seasons will do nicely. That said the car currently has some no-name tires on it. I plan to get a set of Generals or Sumitomos in the future.

Interestingly... I've gotten 34.7 in my NC2 (over a whole tank).

I will get a higher one as soon as I take a road trip. This was half a tank of commuting.

Impressive figure from your NC!

Damn, I miss my Miata.

Except when there's a torrential downpour. Or when I'm going on a road trip exceeding 2 hours of driving. Or when I need to buy something large.

But seriously, I miss that car. A lot.

I was trying... ;)

Driving the way it wants to be driven the MZR 2.0 returns a pretty steady 27 combined commuting... ~24 pure city, ~30 pure highway (it actually gets the best mileage on B-roads at ~45-55mph, I've touched 37 in that scenario; this would of course be due to the racey gearing. 6th gear @ 70mph is sniffing 4,000 RPM).

conversely it gets 8 mpg autocrossing.

was thinking of the NB sport wheels then.

Dude, nice picture! Love the mountains. I am moving down around the smokies very soon (on the NC side) and am pretty excited for a number of reasons, but one of them is exploring mountain roads in my miata!

The best I've gotten in my E46 330i is 32.8 mpg by being conservative! All highway driving at 65mph cruise control. I usually average 21 city and 28 hwy 23 mixed when daily driving with sudden rapid accelerations.

The best I've managed in the Speed 3 is 28.9, and that took SO MUCH EFFORT! It averages 24.8 mpg.

I would go with Yokohama all seasons for a Miata. They are typically still aggressive enough to be fun. You won't want to drive anything else if you ever get spoiled to good tires.
