What we have here is a 2013 Ford Taurus SEL AWD. My main issue with this car is that if you are going to make a full size comfort cruiser why on earth would you give it such a tiny interior. No word of a lie my Mazda 323 has a whole lot more front interior space, and that would be a sub compact by todays standards (I really am being 100% serious here).

It seems this cars is nothing but waste. the front interior room is shit and the rear interior room is even worst. My 2013 Ford Fusion is way roomier that this beast.

Sure the 290HP 3.5L V6 goes like hell (I'm comparing this to a 1.6L fusion) and it has a massive trunk but that seems to be the only redeeming features.

I would take a fusion any day before this.

Kinja'd!!!

I see absolutely no point to this car. why bother buying a 4000 pound fullsize sedan if you can be just as/if not more comfortable in a Ford Focus and get twice the MPG's and be twice as easier to drive.

Other than the power this car is useless.

This is coming from a converted mopar guy who now owns 2 new fords. A 2013 Fusion & a 2013 Escape. I wanted to love this car but I just can't. I still love fords tho. The fusion has made me a believer in the Ford brand.

its due for a redesign, hopefully they give it more interior space since that seems to be the biggest complaint

Yeah. I actually like the old Taurii better.

Nail the gas from 30..... Wait for what feels like an eternity for the ecu to tell the transmission to downshift.....

bigger is always better in 'murica. High belt lines, big arches to fit big wheels, thick haunches, and big stuff under the skin you can't see...all within the same wheelbase as full size sedans from a decade ago...well the price must be paid somewhere, and usually that means a smaller interior.

We don't get any Ford bigger than a Mondeo/Fusion on my side of the Atlantic and even that's become sufficiently big that it now sells poorly. I take it we're not missing out on anything?

Nope. He's right, the current Taurus is pretty awful in the wasted space department.

A good friend of mine has one, I've ridden in it quit a bit, and driven it a little. The interior space is a joke, I hate the thing too. My friend is rather unimpressed with the interior space as well, but he's 6'-7" tall, so he needed the extra headroom over the Fusion.

I had a rental Taurus for a month or so during my last trip to the states. With all the crap needed for a toddler plus my wife and I there was a bit of room for everything. But I definitely felt there were some design aspects that could have been improved.

The DASH! Holy ocean of plastic!!! The center console could use some cleaning up as well, ergonomics were all over the place for me with the touch screen and other buttons. I despised the manu-matic mode. Without paddles on the steering wheel requesting shifts on my own was left to the toggle switch on the side of the shifter.

I haven't driven the Fusion for an extended amount of time, but the Taurus felt like a 25% larger example from the B-pillar forward. Mostly in the dash.

If it were my money I'd go with the Fusion, tick a few more options boxes and get a roof-box if I needed more space vs buying the Taurus.

I would have to agree, despite this car's enormous size it's not very large inside. One of the best rental car's I've had to date though. If the transmission wasn't a total shitbox it would be an amazing rental I think. Those phone home to mommy and ask for permission before performing the shift you were told to transmissions just about ruin otherwise good cars. I did also notice a good bit of torque steer when romping on it while initiating a pass. It takes off very well (provided you gave it enough time to downshift a couple times) but then as you switch lanes while you're in the power it wants to pull you back into the car you're passing.

This is why the next-gen Taurus is being built on the Fusion platform.

Even 'murica has a breaking point. This car is proof. Seems the consensus is fairly unanimous on here as well as those I speak with in person who have been behind the wheel of one.

y'all 'muricans need Twingo. Small car space in a tiny car package, also Rear engine RWD.

I drive the SHO version of this (a 2010). While the interior isn't as spacious as it could be, I blame bulky interior features, it's never bothered me. It's a very comfortable car has gobs of power and I actually really like the interior, it's very sensibly laid out and very functional. More so than the 2013 in my opinion, my 2010 still has real buttons in the center stack, haha. Also people with newer Fords comment that they like the touch screen layout on mine much better versus MFT.

I cross shopped the Taurus and 300 before deciding on the 300. My biggest complaint? The space. That thing is not designed well IMO. The Front is so Cockpit like with the high belt line and the high center console, I felt claustrophobic sitting up front and the rear leg room is much better on the 300. The trunk is larger though :(

nope! the Mondeo is a delight. I know this for a fact as I own a 2013 Fusion. it's a shame we can't get the diesel wagon you guys get.

The fusion is bigger in all aspects except maybe the trunk. I don't have any kids of my own but we did do a road trip with my wife's friend and baby girl and we had plenty of room for the oversized stroller(seriously why are they so big?) and all related things needed for a 3 day weekend.

My fusion fully loaded 1.6L SE FWD,leather, sunroof, sat nav. Every option other than than the self parking and lane departure assist. and it was still less money than a very base Taurus.

yup what's the point of a big car if it's small inside? you buy a big car because you want space.

I 100% agree. Even I am noticing that my fusion is bigger than what I need. I'm having more fun zipping in traffic with my 323.

Kinja'd!!!

I would love a Twingo,I doubt we will ever get one tho. The Smart forfour will be as close to the twingo as we'll get if we get the forfour at all.

I've never been in an earlier one so I have no idea how it's laid out. It for sure can't be worst that a 2013. The center console is huge and is taking all the hip room.

I like how the car drives I just don't like the interior at all. My Fusion wins hands down in the interior department.

head room this car had a lot of. but it also had super high belt lines, tiny rear window and blind spots galore.

I really like this car mechanically, engine and tranny were pretty good.and I like how the car looks.

My main problem for the '13 is the touch sensitive EVERYTHING. Ford recognized that as well and has phased that idea out again... Thankfully.

You don't see the point and it seems not many other people do, either. The Taurus isn't selling well, I've read, and this lines up with the number I see on the streets. For every Taurus in private hands I see 3 or 4 Fusions. Most Tauruses (Taurii?) I see are fleet vehicles.

And I agree: the interior space is unusually small for such a big car.

Looks pretty slick as a police interceptor, though:

This one is an AWD so torque steer is not as apparent. Mechanically I thought it was pretty good tho. The transmission did not bother me all that much. I guess if you drive an old man car like a racecar you might be disappointed.

I had a 2010 300 touring and I loved it(really I should've never got rid of it). The 300 I found had great interior space the back seats were awesome in there. I did drive the newer 300 and that was pretty good too.

The cockpit like interior is the part I hate about the Taurus for god sake give me some room to breath.

Yes I always like the look of a Taurus based cruiser. it looks awesome on steelies. And your right I see way more Fusions that Taurii but the Fusion is an awesome car and also cheaper so I can see why.

Given how huge these cars are, it is surprising how little room there is on the inside. My friend's mom picked one up a few months back and we took it out for a spin. I was stuck in the back seat and good god was it cramped back there.
